"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"Al was great. He came the same day I called and had my oven fixed in less than an hour (including adding a new igniter). He was friendly and professional and fair. I would hire Al for all my appliance repair needs. Additionally, it's nice to be supporting a minority owned business...You can have faith that calling Al is a wise decision."

"I have a Home Warranty with AHS and the Home Warranty company called A-1 Appliance to come out and do my repairs.  A-1 Appliance told my husband many parts were needed and would be ordered and they'd be back in touch to schedule the next visit.
I heard nothing by 4 days later so I called the AHS and they knew nothing.  It turns out  that A-1 does not work on "sealed systems" but they did not convey that or anything else to my Home Warranty Company who also dropped the ball.  They next called New England Appliance Repair who came right away and also told me they needed many parts.  Instead of waiting days and days, N.E. Appliance expedited the shipment of the parts and they're return to my home so that within a couple of days the repairman Bill was back here repairing not only my refrigerator but my wall oven as well which was way off temperature.  I will tell AHS in the future that I only want to use N.E.A.!"

"At first it was suggested that the whole commode be replaced, but it was found out that the bowl was intact and that only the tank be replaced. This replacement was done and the new unit worked fine and nothing else was needed to be done. Great service, good workmanship and will recommend this company to others."

"I was searching Home Warranty providers after a bad experience with my 7 year, soon to be terminated "former" Fidelity Home Warranty service provider. Warranty service providers are essential, for they step in and "act" when life deals you an "Oh Crap" situation like your refrigerator suddenly quits. Every high dollar appliance in a home has a life span that will end whether your prepared for it or not. It's a common occurance that leads to unexpected higher debt concerns while you frantically attempt to save your food from going bad. Got a minimum of $1,700 to get a new one? A truck or a really good friend to borrow theirs to pick it up? Plus time to allow it to achieve proper temperature to transfer your temp sensitive food! Well if you haven't experienced this type of event, in your life, you will! I began by doing some easy research online like searching for best Home Warranty providers. I put some inquiries out to prospective providers and as expected, the sales calls began to ring on my phone. They all have why "they" are the best provider - so take notes and compare policies. Ask whether they cover swimming pools, septic systems, roof repairs etc. So my phone rings with an out-of-state area code and it's Zach from Choice Home Warranty. While on the call, this enthusiastic salesman hit all the "trigger" items I was looking for; *Annual Service Price *Price per claim deductable *Response time You know, all the "need to know" info that helps you make an informative decision. I started paying $550/year 7 years ago in 2014 with my old service provider. The per claim fee was $65. Today in 2022, it's $710/year and $85/claim. Was it worth it you ask? If I figure the math, my total cost over 7 years and only 4 claims was $4,450 or $636/year. This cost paid to replace my pools salt cell and chlorine generator ($1,800 in parts alone), 2 separate Air Conditioner repairs which replaced the coil fan motor, a circuit board replacement, system coil cleansing, relays and a capacitor. (No idea of how much my total cost would have been. I paid $65 twice. Nice huh?) 1 roof repair that replaced the "Cricket", which is a 15' roof section elevational change just below the ridge line. It's important to remember that these repairs don't include "hidden costs" which are personnel and service labor rates. Something you will pay for without a Warranty Service. Here's the best part of the call from this AWESOME salesman. He offered me 6 year "fully transferable", rate locked for life" service policy that when divided out by 6 is LESS THAN WHAT I WAS PAYING ANNUALLY, 7 YEARS AGO!!! So, is a Home Warranty plan a safe bet??? I have a 9 word answer for those without a Choice Home Warranty service plan. YOU BET YOUR DRIPPING SWEATY BUTT CRACK IT IS!!! Props to Zach, YOU DA MAN!!! FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Groton, MA

You should hire an experienced plumber for major repairs like persistent leaks, electrical faults, or complete unit replacements, as these issues require expert diagnostics and installation. For minor problems like clogs or small jams, a certified and insured handyperson can often handle the repair safely. Hiring a professional ensures the repair is done correctly, maintaining your appliance's performance and helping prevent future issues.

A garbage disposal lasts between eight and 15 years when properly maintained. Factors like frequency of use, regular cleaning, and following manufacturer guidelines can influence its lifespan. Higher-end models with stainless steel components typically last longer than budget units with galvanized components. Routine maintenance helps prevent early failures and keeps your disposal running smoothly. Avoiding problematic materials like fibrous vegetables, coffee grounds, and grease can significantly extend your disposal's operational life and efficiency.

Your garbage disposal may clog when food particles, especially fibrous or starchy materials, build up around the grinding components and block the normal flow. Dense foods like potato peels, rice, or pasta can cause blockages, especially if not flushed through with enough cold water. Regular cleaning and proper use can help prevent clogs and keep your disposal running smoothly.

Garbage disposals impact the environment by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfills and by using electricity when operating. By grinding up organic waste, they decrease the volume of waste that would otherwise produce methane emissions in landfills. While they consume some energy, using efficient models and following recommended practices can manage this usage. With responsible use, garbage disposals can be an eco-friendly option.
