"I've dealt with Garrety Glass a few times. They get the job done. The quality of work is good but they can take a long time and have mixed up a few order of mine. Once it was with scheduling. Another time, they ordered a tempered glass when I just needed regular window glass cut to fit and installed. Another time, they sent the wrong quote. Bottom line: the workmanship is quality. Unfortunately, they will probably waste your time or money."

"I must apologize for this being so late, as the below work was completed in late 2018. My existing shower door (~10 yrs old) refused to close properly and I contacted several companies on Angies's list to see if one of them might take a look at it and tell me if it was reparable or not. Of those I contacted, only Ron (owner) said that he would take a look at it. All of the other companies refused to even come out and take a look at it, saying that since they did not install, they would not even take a look at it. I turned out that the problem was unreparable (which I had figured), and Ron recommended a couple of options for replacing it. After agreeing on a style and price for the replacement, Ron proceeded to take the necessary measurements and order the components. When they were available, he contacted me to arrange a time for installation. The installation was not the smoothest, as it turns out that the builders that installed the shower did not do a very good job of makeing sure that things were true and angled in the correct direction. Ron took the time to make the best of a difficult situation and worked patiently to ensure that the installation was done properly. Although we have had to have a couple of minor adjustments made (primarily because of the poor shower construction mentioned above), Ron has always responded in a timely manner to resolve those issues. I would definitely work with him for future projects."

"Excellent all the way! Received a call from a tenant at about 11:30 AM on Saturday stating that most of the power was out in her apartment. She had already reset all of the breakers and only had 2 outlets that worked. Contacted my usual contractor, who was not available to handle the emergency call. He referred me to Edwardo Sabino of Sabino Electric. Called Edwardo at 12:45 PM and he was at the apartment building before 2 PM. He diagnosed the problem and quoted prices to and quot;repairand quot; the bad breaker or and quot;replaceand quot; the whole breaker box, connections and breakers. Given the age of the building, and the electrical panel, we opted to replace the whole breaker box and breakers. Edwardo worked until 6 PM and finished the job beautifully. Now the tenant is happy, I did not have to pay for her to stay at a hotel for a couple of days and the whole building is safer. <br />"

"Chuck came out to give us an estimate on kitchen tile back splash. The cost and time (2 days) was agreed upon and he came back the following Monday to start the work.  When he arrived  I set up a work table for Chuck to use in the garage and he set up his  wet saw and other tools there.  He systematically installed the tiles stopping to cut them as needed.   He cut all the tiles in the garage to avoid creating a mess in the  kitchen.  After he installed the tiles he came back the next day after the tiles had ?set?.  He grouted the tiles and when finished he cleaned up. <br />      He did an excellent job and my wife and  I could not be more pleased with the outcome!!   He worked the entire day the first day to make sure all the tiles were installed so the finish work could be completed the next day.  He only needed a half day to finish the rest of the work.  I was really impressed with the quality of the work and his attention to detail.  Good work,  Chuck. <br />   <br />"

"Very well.  The installers were very professional and did an excellent job.  We were especially impressed by how well they accommodated our schedules in moving furniture around from room to room as they progressed throughout the job.  Overall, the work took one week to complete.  We felt comfortable leaving the house as the installation team worked. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Hanover, PA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
