"Larry was prompt, knowledgeable and did what he said he would do. I was impressed with his attention to detail and precision. The concrete pavers patio he installed for me looks better than I expected and I came away impressed with his work. Often times contractors have not shown up when they said or been difficult to return calls. Larry showed up when he said he would and was very responsive. I would hire him again for sure."

"Paolo is an amazing contractor. I'm usually pleased if a contractor is responsive, or honest, or creative. Paolo is all of the above and more. He did an amazing job of completely rebuilding our master bath. He had great ideas, was extremely patient and flexible and wasn't satisfied until we were. His craftsmanship is beyond reproach and his crew were wonderful to have around the house (especially his father who works with him). If you can get him on your schedule, I recommend him without any hesitation.."

"PJ was the only contractor we contacted that was willing to come to our home and take a look before providing an estimate. Everyone else used photos but also made the incorrect assumption about how our front porch was originally constructed and what the issue behind the crumbling was. The process itself was stretched out over two weeks roughly, but that was mainly because of the weather. PJ made a point to keep us constantly updated about when things would stop or resume. We also greatly appreciate that they lengthened the original rails to match the slightly larger stoop. We'll probably reach out once we're ready to do work on our basement!"

"Mike's attention to detail in even the initial small handyman projects was what had me bring him back for the additional work. Mike, unfortunately, suffered with some serious health issues while working for me (they've now been resolved, thankfully!), and yet he still ensured that everything he did in my home was done to as close to perfection as possible (hard to do with my home being so unlevel...). Mike took every opportunity in every step of the process to inform me of what needed to be done, and the best and most cost effective way to do it. When coming across unexpected snags (i.e. after pulling the old laundry area down and finding cracked support beams), he was always up front about what things were going to cost, how it needed to be fixed, and how long it would take. Mike is one of those rare workers who is not only honest to a fault, but is not happy until he has completed his projects to the complete satisfaction of his customer AND himself. He offered me many opportunities along the way, many of which I politely declined, to learn how to do some of the smaller tasks in order to save me money. Mike is ALWAYS either available to reach via phone, or will get back with you very quickly. I will definitely have Mike back for future projects - when you find someone who is trustworthy, tries to save you money, and has the 100% pride in his work that Mike does, why would I hire anyone else?"

"CWI was great.  My basement flooded because my sump pumps didn't work.  (I don't know anything about these things and hadn't touched them for 10 years since I bought the house.)   CWI came out soon after I called them and inspected my basement.  They found the 2 sump pumps I had were not working and gave me an estimate to replace them.  The estimate was less than what I might have expected after doing some on-line research.   <br /> They replaced my 2 sump pumps with pumps that included a battery back-up.  I'd also asked to watch them work so I could learn about these sorts of things.  They were very accommodating.  They brand of pumps they used were top-notch according to Amazon and Home Depot reviews.   <br /> I recommended CWI to a friend whose basement was flooding and she was also very happy with their work.  <br /> Two thumbs up! <br />"

"While the work that was done installing the windows was satisfactory, there were many issues and misunderstandings along the way. We kept being told that the windows were suppose to be "replacement" not "new", though Dan's construction was given direct contact information for the supplier at the time he took the job and was in communication with the supplier on a regular basis as to what the windows looked like, were made of, delivery time and how the supplier recommended that they be installed. Mistakes were made by Dan on four of the sizes and had to be reordered although Dan did eventually agree to stand behind his mistake and ordered new windows to be remade and sent. In the end, the cost of the job to us, for him to finish installing the windows was $2000 more than we had agreed upon originally, and some of the caulking/painting/hardware detail that was originally promised to be done by Dan's constuction was,"left for the "painter" to do at a later date.""

"The vendor has a semi-automated scheduling system, apparently. However, it wasn't up to snuff when I called. Requesting a human scheduler for a serice call, I was assured my request would make it into the system as they would input it manually. However, I didn't hear back for almost a month. Eventually, they did call, explaining it was a back office mix-up. Fortunately, it was not an urgent requirement in that the weather was just beginning to turn warm. When they finally called to make an appointment, they did show promptly as promised. Neat and efficient, if somewhat taciturn, they began their nispection and worked silently and effectively, isolating the problem as a burned out thermocouple. They explained when I asked how this happens and simply replaced the item. They then asked if I wanted my unit cleaned and the and quot;ashesand quot; tidied. Upoin finishing all that, they policed the area and left it as clean as it was upon their arrival. <br /> I requested a short tutorial on the system to enable me to light and turn off the appliance, and they provided a short, practical ldemonstration. Not the most sociaable team, they do get credit for being efficient and effective, which are, after all, more important in this exchange. <br /> I would certainly use them again, though I'd be a bit more peristent on the front-end scheduling. <br />"

"We could not be more pleased with the installation of our back splash which Pete did for us.  He is a super nice person, very honest, reliable and his work is impeccable.  We used a natural stone for our back splash which is not easy to install because of the variations in color.  He took such care and was so precise that the job exceeded our expectation.  It looks  totally natural and he did an amazing job in terms of making the ends match perfectly and the cuts are so clean.  His craftsmanship is above and beyond anything I have seen in  recent years and I might add that I am also not easy to please. <br /> The only negative, if there is one, is that he is sometimes difficult to reach.  However, he will always return the call and is well worth waiting for.  <br /> Thank you Pete for such an amazing job.  <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Harrisonburg, VA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
