"This company did a wonderful job on the pavers for the patio. It seem to be a difficult job due to the slope we have in the back yard. They executed the job great. We are very happy with the results. I would recommend them to my family and friends any day."

"Professional conduct : driver called before arrival and arrived when he said that he would. Dropped mulch exactly where I wanted it and avoided hitting electrical wires/garage. The mulch is finely shredded, nicely scented, easy to disperse, and attractive. My yard looks considerably more attractive with this mulch. <br />"

"<p>Excellent / professional company.  You get what  you pay for with these guys.  They are more pricey than their competitors, but they do the job right and you can be sure you are getting work that will last. Several of our neighbors had used them previously and told us to just pick Allied if we want it done correctly and stop wasting your time (i.e. we only had to look at their completed jobs and how they were aging to know what we were getting for our dollar).</p> <p> </p> <p>We had a grading issue and were VERY VERY CONCERNED and specific as to how we wanted the water to flow.  Ken the Allied Engineer / Sales Rep was extremely helpful and we consulted him multiple times before agreeing on the work to be completed.  He went above and beyond in trying to help us with our problem and offering his advice / support.  He spent a lot of time with us to understand the specific problem and to be certain their work would help or correct the situation.  The driveway was completed quickly and everything looks great!  Best of all our concerning grading / water flow issue has now been entirely solved!!  </p> <p> </p> <p>Great work Ken and the Allied crew who completed our job.  Thank you!</p> <p> </p> <p>  </p> <br />"

"Jim was one of 7 contractors we interviewed for this job--3 from friends' recommendations, and Jim and the other 3 from here on Angie's List. We weren't sure what exactly we wanted to do, just that we hated the existing landscaping and had many pictures of examples of what we did like. Jim is very KNOWLEDGEABLE and PROFESSIONAL. He LISTENED and understood our preferences, and came up with a sketch/design as part of his proposal (at no additional cost)--several of the other contractors we considered wanted to charge $300-500 just to make a sketch (a high price just to see what they might have to offer for you). <br /> He had no high-pressure salesmanship, and he did not try to up-sell us on other services, details, or options, like some others did with their proposals. His PRICE WAS REASONABLE and he stayed WITHIN BUDGET limits we set for him. <br /> Although we vasilated back and forth about a few details, Jim was PATIENT with us, and both he and his assistant PROMPTLY RESPONDED to our questions and were FLEXIBLE with our needs--whether meeting in the evening, or requesting additional sets of stone samples as options of building material for our wall. <br /> He started the job PROMPTLY, and his CREW WAS GREAT. They worked very hard, but CLEANED UP well at the end of the day, so it didn't look like a disaster zone. My neighbors even commented as to how conscientious they were, by not starting with loud work that would wake late-sleeping-neighbors too early. <br /> In summer 2015 or 2016 I plan to do additional landscaping in the back yard, and I would happily use Jim again. <br /> <br />"

"It is very wet around my house and the basement had leaked. I wanted to avoid future problems, do the preventative work necessary. He came by, assessed the situation and provided an estimate. <br /> IT all looked very good, except that it was more than I had to spend. I did what else I could do on my own and have been alright so far. <br /> If I do go with a professional, I definitely will give him every consideration. I felt very good with his attitude toward the job and work. <br />"

"Bud and Jane were a pleasure to work with. We had work done twice; once in the fall of 2015 for the front and once in the spring of 2016 for the back patio. The quotes were spot on. We had them come out and setup lights prior to install so we could see how it would look and make any adjustments. Even after the last install my wife and I decided to have a couple of adjustments.  Bud came right out when he was first available.  They were very flexible with our schedule for install.  I highly recomend them."

"We chose Antonelli to install our patio and pool deck after interviewing several other contractors. From the beginning Mick (designer/project manager) was a pleasure to work with. He listened to our ideas and produced a beautiful design. During the installation the installation team was very courteous and worked with us on some fine details made the whole project look very polished. Overall I'd highly recommend Antonelli Landscape to family and friends."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Huntington Woods, MI

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
