"We thought we needed foundation work. They not only told us that was incorrect. They directed us to a structural engineer who would be able to help us. No charge. Most appreciated."

"We are so happy with the look of our new patios and the job completed. The team communicated well, were very friendly, answered all of our questions, and worked hard to complete our project. I would definitely recommend them for your concrete needs."

"Really nice job on installing a bathroom on the 2nd floor of a 1930s house.  Because the bathroom is over the 1st floor living area, Bertini made  sure every part of the floor was sealed against leaks.   They build a concrete pan and bath seat for the shower, and it looks good.  Heating is from in-floor radiant electric, and Bertini installed the heating mats. <br /> The tiling itself was a mix of 18x18 floor tiles from ReStore, octagon tiles from Home Depot for the shower floor, and subway tile for the shower walls and shower ceiling provided by Bertini.  I think if I had it to do over again, I'd have Bertini source everything. <br /> The care and craftsmanship were first rate.  The subway tile was laid in a running bond pattern, and grout lines are even.  They managed to work around the inevitable corners and odd shapes with care and style.  They added a few design elements--a black line and inset shelves, and those look great.  The crew--and we had the same tiler throughout the job, was a craftsman who knew his stuff.  <br /> I'd absolutely work with Bertini again. <br />"

"Gil and his crew are as good as it gets. You will get top notch quality at a reasonable price. They pay attention to the details from doing the work to clean up. This is one of the few contractors that I can be away from the job site and never worry about the work. He does all my work."

"Chimney Cricket was very responsive. They scheduled my appointment within a week of my phone call, and it was great they were able to meet me around the middle of the day so I didn't have to take off of work. He called to let me know he was about 20 minutes behind which was nice to take the time to let me know. <br /> <br /> When he arrived he shook my hand (and informed me it's good luck to shake the hand of a chimney sweep!) and inspected the look of the fireplace first. He told me to replace some loose mortar but that we could do it on our own and just to wait for it to dry before use. He found some sort of blockage at the top, which turned out to be likely a giant spider web. <br /> <br /> He took a lot of time to explain to me how the different parts work, how we had round tile plus a liner which is really good, why it was good, etc. Our chimney was in great shape, so he just swept it for debris and built up creosote from years past. It took about 45 minutes for this process. <br /> <br /> He climbed up onto the roof when he was done to make sure the outside part of the chimney looked good, and it did. I feel very safe knowing all of this information now and am excited to use the fireplace knowing I won't start the house on fire. <br /> <br /> I was given a magnet for the fridge with a handwritten note to call after March to receive the service for $50 off (avoiding their busy fall season). <br /> <br /> Great experience, they will definitely become our regular sweep."

"We needed some siding work done quickly and on budget.  Kevin Jepson filled the bill.  He came out right away, gave us a "right-on" quote and finished the job early.  The work done along with his attention to detail are beyond compare.   Kevin is a true craftsman with a great personality and work ethic.  We are very pleased with the result and would recommend Jepson Enterprises to anyone needing carpentry, remodeling, construction work or finishing.  Superior work."

"The initial contact was good and the price was fair. So they started the work and replaced the flat roof which went well. Then when they started on the chimney they found they would need to remove some of the roof to access everything which would be some additional cost. I agreed to this and they started the work but then there were delays and communication issues for over 2 months. They ended up not completing the job and leaving me high and dry to complete it myself."

"I use him for my association stuff. He’s not the lowest price, but he does a great job. You would like the finished product. He did some work for me personally, he has done work for some of the neighbors here in Greenboro where I live; and he also did some work for the home owners association when I was president. He did a good job on that. He does great work, he doesn’t do things cheap. All I know is that anything he does, it’s a good project and people are happy. It is good quality. He happens to live in the development next to me, I know Ben, his brother. He is very responsive. I probably would use them because I know if I asked him to do it, if the price was definitely reasonable; I would be happy with the product. If I was trying to do it cheap then I wouldn’t use them. He doesn’t want to do stuff that looks bad or that looks cheap."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Huxley, IA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
