"We contracted Winthrop Place for a remodeling job that included converting an extra room into an additional bathroom & converting the adjoining room into a bedroom (adding a closet, new doorway and framing the existing doorway) for my elderly mom. Michael and crew did a fantastic job. They were very professional and completed the work in a short time frame, making the house much more accessible for my mom. They took care to preserve and re-use the house's original wood trim/moulding so the new rooms tie in perfectly with the existing spaces. Michael has many years of experience and it shows in both the quality of the work performed and the suggestions he offered along the way. Finding a contractor for a big job can be very stressful, these guys made the whole remodeling process easy & painless. I'm happy to say that this company knocked it out of the park in terms of quality of workmanship, timeliness, and fair pricing. Can't ask for much more than that. After this project I can confidently recommend Winthrop Place if you're looking for a local contractor. I just wish I'd found them sooner!"

"We thought we might need a new roof, but Nicolai Salgau educated us about a silicone product with a 50-yr materials warranty that has been absolutely great. Before we proceeded, we researched this Gako product and learned that, while effective and high quality, it requires expert application. Salgau Roofing provided that. We have complete trust in their excellent work, meticulous application, and - critical, we think - superior knowledge of roofing materials and techniques. Before the silicone application, Salgau took pains to repair previous roofers' "repairs." Especially for slate, flat, or historic roofs, Salgau is first-rate. They have earned their excellent reputation."

"Brad Devris is the owner of this company. The timeliness at which they came out, and the courteous that they showed us was outstanding. It took a lot of work. He came in and did it, changed the part and did whatever was necessary. He did not have to make a return trip to the shop and it was done in an awesome amount of time."

"They do great work and are very professional.  When they vented the bathrooms fans through the attic to the outside one of their workers also fixed the attic screens which at one side of the house had come loose and some birds made a nest. They did not charge extra for this.  The workers are always friendly, they clean up after themselves and the work preformed is excellent. <br />"

"Harrison Floors was not only reasonably priced compared to our other quotes, they also stood out for listening to our needs and making suggestions that others hadn't-- suggestions that helped us avoid an inferior flooring product (for the rooms they did in vinyl flooring) and also better-conceal flaws in our flooring that they refinished. They met needs we didn't know we had. The work crew was on task every time I stopped by, and as a family business, there were no questionable sub-contractors involved. We are thrilled with the work they did, and recommend them highly."

"Choosing Chris Jones Builders was our best decision throughout our project. Everyone involved was competent, responsible, reliable and helpful far beyond minimum requirements. <br /> <br /> We had architect drawings that they worked from accurately, but they also didn't hesitate to work with us and the architect when they thought, from their experience, that improvements could be made (the light tubes were their idea and they're wonderful; they even found some unused space that they turned into an extra coat closet for us). <br /> <br /> Any changes in cost were explained to us well in advance, both increases and potential savings, and the decisions were outs. i.e., no pressure, no unexpected surprises. They were considerate and pleasant to have on-site (good because we had them on-site A LOT) and went out of their way to make sure our house stayed secure and they didn't 'open anything up' without giving us advance notice and working around any plans we had. By doing so, we were able to live in the house throughout major renovations without serious inconvenience. <br /> <br /> They were never secret or guarded. We were always able and welcome to watch and inspect what they were doing and they never hesitated to answer our (often naive) questions. <br /> <br /> After the build, we had only a few minor problems to call them back about and, in every case, they returned promptly and made good without argument or question. They even returned two years after our build and replaced some swollen deck boards without any hassle. Overall, the quality of the final product exceeded our expectations (they added a number of nice touches that we wouldn't have thought of ourselves). <br /> <br /> In short, we found them to be anything but the stereotypical builders that horror stories are built around. I recommend them for any building, remodeling or repair work without hesitation. <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Ida, MI

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
