"I called this service provider because I had 15-year-old wallpaper in one of my bedrooms that I wanted removed. I left a voice mail and he called back in short order. We made the appointment for 7 a.m. the following Monday and Steve (the owner) and his helper arrived on time and ready to work. The work lasted a couple of hours. The glue the paper hanger used gave them some trouble; but, they managed to get everything off without fail. In addition, mold was found on the walls when they removed the paper. They even cleaned this off at no extra cost. I really appreciated them. They were great. They were very friendly and very professional. I liked them both. I would hire them again without hesitation.. <br />"

"Initial price was quoted high. After I mentioned a couple of competitive bids, the price was reduced to a competitive level. Two painters completed the job in 3 days as promised. Used Dunn-Edwards paint."

"We have a two-story redwood home in Southern California that architectually would fit in a mountain setting or in a row of craftsman homes.  One Way Paint and Design offered design assistance in choosing the main and contrasting colors and where to paint them (e.g., flower boxes, corbols), siding replacement, and final painting.  They were very professional, hardworking, and careful in all of their efforts.  I recommend them highly! <br />"

"They did a great job. The crew was professional and they taped up everything. One year later I still look at the paint job and think how well they did. I would absolutely use them again, and have recommended them to everyone I know who needs painting done. The price they quoted was tied for my lowest bid (I looked at 5 different painters) so I was concerned about quality, but it was fantastic. I had a built in TV area and they painted it quickly and it looks great. They removed all of the window blinds for us and re-installed them when they were done. We had new floors put in and afterwards they came back and painted the moulding by hand without one mistake- fantastic."

"Heidi spent a total of three days (off and on) on our project. She first prepared the windows, painted a base coat, and then faux painted and sealed the interior frames of three master bedroom windows. The base coat was something of an organish color which shocked my Mother. Mom called me, and I said "Heidi knows what she is doing. Leave her alone." Glad we did. Over the orange was a dark greyish color to simulate the wood grain (vertical grain douglas fir). From there, she applied some other top coats. The result is fabulous - too good to be true. Sometimes I look and see a spot that could be better - but upon looking more closely, I am scrutinizing the REAL stained wood NOT Heidi's faux work. Very glad that we did this opposed to removing all the paint grade work installed by the original contractor in error. Thank heaven for Heidi!!!"

"Brant came to our property to look over the job and submitted a written quote. One of Brant's employees, Frank, came to start removing the wallpaper. It took him approximately two days to prepare the walls to be painted and another three days to paint. He did an excellent job painting, hanging pictures again and replacing the hardware. Both Brant and Frank worked with us every step of the way so that the job would be completed to our satisfaction. I would certainly use Premier Painting again and would recommend them to my friends. <br />"

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Indian Wells, CA

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
