"I phoned Professional Plumb and Ernie (owner) answered. I described the situation and he said he could replace it same day. This was about 2:30 in the afternoon.  He came over within the hour with a new water heater and had it replaced in a matter of an hour and a half.  The water heater was in a tight spot between the air handler and a work bench. He did have to cut out the condensate drain piping on the air handler to remove and replace the water heater.  But he replaced/re-plumbed the condensate drain line at no charge. Excellent service and we thank Ernie very much."

"Bryan, the owner, was prompt in returning my email, met me at home at my convenience, walked the yard and made suggestions.  His crew worked hard and he was there with them working as well.  This was a difficult job and they finished in less than five working days.  They made suggestions for improving the look of the yard, they did everything they said they were going to do and carried away debris.  We plan to use them periodically to keep our yard looking great.  It looked so good our neighbors asked if they would come and work on their yard!

"When we signed the papers, Steve was quick to take us to Home Depot and a couple of other ceramic shops to find the best deals and to understand what our tastes are like. Steve also took us to his house to show his work, which was a good sense of his skill level. He is working for you the whole time, thinking of the way that you will like the ultimate product. This is also the time when you get to know Steve. Steve can be a bit pushy, but you want someone that knows what they are doing and isn't afraid to tell it like it is. This was a major job, so, we were very cautious and a bit scared of the amount of money we were about to spend. The contract was for a set amount, but that doesn't include any materials, which is also a very big and endless amount. There is a lot of logistics trying to figure everything out and I would suggest getting a pad of paper to start the lists of materials you need to buy and a folder to keep all the receipts since when the job is done some things are returnable. As I mentioned the materials are on your own, so, it depends on your taste on how much you want to pay. The good side about Steve is, he doesn't take any percentage off the top to pick-up at any store (Home Depot preferred since it's close to him), but he went all over town to pick up the material. With Home Depot, he would pick up materials there and then HD would call you for a credit card. The first time is awkward, but then it just happens and it adds to the list. Work that was done included demo, moving materials to the Waste Management dumpster bags, ceiling popcorn removal, laid floor, wall and shower tile beautifully, glass inlay, painting (executing on another level), sanding doors, installing doors, shower doors, new faucets, electric fixtures and installation of vanity (leveled exact) and mirror. At the end of our project, there is no doubt, we would hire Steve again to do any job in our house. It took about three weeks from start to finish. It is never easy doing any construction job, but it worked out very well for us."

"My roof was not considered a big enough job by some roofing companies here in Miami and they were not interested. I opened my Angie's List magazine and found KS Roofing in the book so I called Kenny because he was insured and he had such a high rating. I was surprised that he knew where my home was and came over within 2 hours, started the repair after quoting a price verbally. He found a problem I did not know existed and he came back the next day to fix that. I now do not have to worry about my roof for the next 5 years unless we have another hurricane and some tiles come loose at which time I will call Kenny again. Kenny has a great work ethic, is a long time Miami Roofer (hard to find), speaks English and does exactly what he says he is going to do. His kind of service is hard to find here in Miami. I strongly give him an A+."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Jacksonville Beach, FL

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
