"It went well.  He called and went to Simmon's Supply to get an O-ring for the filter but that wasn't the problem.  The filter would have cost too much to replace so he suggested I just remove it which is what he did.  I had some copper pipe and he used my pipe to fill in the piece that was needed.  He also had to reattach a drain pipe that had become detached from the drain on my sink in the cellar.  All this took him approximately an hour.   He came when he said he would and I was pleased with the work he did. <br />"

"Jared the technician was awesome! After having a plumber from another company come over the day before who was unprofessional, overpriced, and suggested incorrect fixes, Jared was a breath of fresh air! I had a leaking connection to a cast iron drain pipe that was leaking into my basement. Jared fixed the problem quickly and correctly. He also discovered another leak from a different pipe which he also fixed. This was done for $425. The quote from the other company was $2,300! They told me I needed to replace 5 feet of cast iron. Jared said the cast iron was in great shape. He also fixed a problem with our hot water which required a new mixing valve on the boiler and cleaning out a calcified pipe. This was $500. The solution proposed from the other company was a new mixing valve in the shower for $840 and a gate valve and potable expansion tank for $2,000. So I would have spent over $5,000 with the other guys instead of a little over $900 with DiRocco. I would highly recommend calling them, I know I will next time!"

"Excellent job by Mike and his crew. In 90 degree heat, they replaced my ancient gas furnace and broken central air conditioning unit. They also capped off and removed an old water heater and replaced the thermostat. I was scheduled to go out of town -- Mike managed to fit me in on very short notice and made sure everything was completed before I left. He and his crew kept me up-to-date during the course of the work. I would definitely recommend Priority Heating and Air Conditioning -- and I'll probably have them do my bathroom remodel as well!!"

"I contacted over four plumbers, and Malone's was the only one that gave me comfort that the job would be completed on time, on budget and correctly. Some plumbers never gave me a quote even after taking the time to view the job with me. We called for an estimate, Tom came by and gave us a fair price. We are completely remodeling our house and need to have everything completed on time to be able to move in by the time we sell our current home. They replaced the plumbing stack and added new vents to bring the house up to code. After seeing their work, I decided to have them replace all of the hot and cold water pipes rather than doing it myself. Malone's crew are friendly, professional and will do a great job, priced reasonably. I highly recommend Malone Plumbing and Heating for any project."

"The drain leak started on a friday evening, with water pouring into the basement every time we turned on the kitchen faucet. Since it wasn't an emergency the plumber came at 8am the next morning. Finding the break in the pipe took about an hour, and involved making holes in the basement ceiling and also under the sink. He kept the holes small and tidy though, which I appreciated, instead of just ripping everything up. There was dirty water in the basement, and the job was pretty messy. While there he also fixed a leaking pipe, although he had to leave to get supplies for that job. He was very polite and worked quickly and quietly, despite all the distractions going on in the house. He was there for about 5 hours total. I felt the price was fair for plumbing, which is always very expensive."

"I needed to plumb a new whole house generator with natural gas, so why not plan on converting everything to natural gas as the appliance needs replacing (propane hot water and stove) right????? I called TOM'S PLUMBING after doing a search on ANGIE'S LIST for a professional. I figured I would get 5 quotes, narrow it down to 3 and then really compare the 3 and decide on one. I did contact 5 professionals and all came to the house and reviewed the job. So, I decided on TOM's PLUMBING after reviewing the 3 and even with a couple of quick revisions to the job, we were able to schedule it in for the following week. This one point was very important to me as we were going to be leaving for vacation, and if I could get this project done, one less thing for me to think about. Tom and his associate Chris showed up right on time on the scheduled day, which was a hot one. They went right to work regardless of the heat, and completed on time. One way I judge a service is whether or not i would hire them again. In regards to TOM's PLUMBING, yes, I would CERTAINLY hire them again, and in fact, I'm already contemplating a couple of new projects. In summary, TOM's PLUMBING is as professional as they come and yet, small enough to be able to work with a home owner for any and all revisions, I mean, we all know things come up. Tom was always available for any questions or concerns and I knew I was in good hands. so not only would I hire them again, I would recommend TOM's PLUMBING to family and friends, which is really what we all care about!!!"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Johnston, RI

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
