"This review is solely about the installation portion of the Puronics Water Treatment System since it was just installed today. The install team arrived on time, ready to go to work. The location of my main water line was tricky to get to, but they found a great solution to tap into the line via a drop-ceiling access point. "At this time, I can only speak to the Service rep and the Service call. I asked for a quote to replace PB water supply piping. The dispatcher/scheduler set me up and delivered as promised. Kaleb came out, did a thorough inspection of the property, and provided three quotes for different stages of work, from just replacing a main header to replacing the plumbing inside the entire house. I appreciate the options provided. Kaleb took his time and explained the process, along with showing me examples of the supply line product and describing the charcoal filter installation. He did a nice, thorough job. If I have any concerns, it would be cost related, but I don't yet have a comparison quote to compare against. They do charge a Service Call fee of $45 for the estimate, which is reasonable since they are based out of Greensboro and the tech has to drive his full-service truck to the job site and invest an hour of his time, not knowing if you will award him the job. The dispatcher made me aware of the charge, so they were very upfront about the whole procedure. If I find their estimates to be reasonable compared to other local plumbers, their service will weigh heavily in their favor when I decide which company to hire. My options will cost between $4,000 and $14,000 for the job, so I am asking for three different companies to bid the job."

My water heater went out nearly two weeks ago the night before we took a week long trip.  Since we had another place to take showers, we got the company  we use for other ac/heating service to shut down the water heater and also got a proposal from them which was around $2200 for a water heater of the exact make (State) as the one which went bad. 

After reading some water heater reviews, we decided we'd prefer a Rheem, so didn't use the first service provider. 

We got a quote from another plumbing co which was roughly the same (only about $150 more) as the Water Heater Experts quote, but saw in Angie's List that they only had a "B" rating. 

Seeing that Water Heater Experts had an "A" rating and specialized in water heaters, I called them and discussed our needs with them to see what they had to say. 

Unlike the other plumbing company, they did not try to "upsell" me in any way.  In fact, they did more of a "downsell" and probably lost out on what would have been a few quick "sucker" bucks (not really, I'm not that gullible). 

Anyway, from my discussions with both the boss and the installer, I decided to just get the basics done and see how well this higher rated Rheem water heater performs.  Their labor guarantee made that a comfortable decision.

Also, I learned from them that a few simple things like regularly draining the water heater once a year or so could prolong the life of the water heater (and that the problem isn't necessarily a bad water supply, as another plumbing co tried to sell).

My old "State" brand heater started leaking after 8 years use.  Oddly enough, though, Water Heater Experts told me that my old water heater was actually BUILT much longer ago  and showed me how to determine this based on model/serial numbers.

Since I have rental property with the identical brand (only 40 gal instead of 50), I checked and found that it is also MUCH OLDER than I had thought. 

I'm planning to drain that tank soon to see what kind of goo comes out.

Great service, good advice, good prices, and a better warranty on labor than the other guys I checked. 

And if I ever need a replacement (maybe for the rental), I'm DEFINITELY calling the Water Heater Experts AGAIN.
