"we have had two pool repairs done by this company and I would definitely recommend them. They were able to locate a leak in the bottom of an in-ground pool that was very difficult to find and they made an excellent repair. They also installed a new pump which went bad after 11 months. They were able to get us a new one and install it under warranty for no charge."

"Pete came to the rescue! He is extremely resourceful, honest, and provides solid work. We saved a ridiculous amount of money by working with him! Since we began working on the pool in March, we were not in a time crunch to have the pool repaired and open, and therefore were super flexible with timing etc. We plan to hire Pete again to close/open our pool.

Small jobs welcome

"Just had MVP pool service come out and put fresh sand in the filter to get ready for summer. They were on time, friendly, stayed within the contract and didn’t say we needed anything extra. And even though he found a wire that didn’t look good and he replaced it he didn’t charge us for it because it wasn’t part of the contract. I can’t recommend this company enough. So if you’re anywhere down near me this is a great pool company. MVP pools 678-807-9635"

"After some initial frustration getting an appointment time set, I was pleased with the service. I had six can lights in the kitchen that were going through bulbs at an alarming rate, or not working altogether. The electrician quickly found the problem and quoted $600 to replace six cans and fix two additional lights (one can, one standard). He offered to come back the following morning, but I asked him to return the following week (because we were going out of town). He returned at the agreed date, quickly repaired/replaced the lights, and cleaned up after. No complaints.

"Javier and his team has been doing my pools maintenance for many years and always doing a great job. That is why I hired them to replace the vinyl and again did it fail to do an amazing job. They showed me different designs and ordered it in a timely manner and in two days my pool is up and back in running for so many months of enjoyments. I highly recommend them."

"The owner of PPS, Brandon goes above and beyond the services I've received in the past. Brandon always finds a way to give the service on my salt water pool his personal touch! PPS is also very good at recognizing when your equipment is not running correctly and finding solutions to your problems. They are consistent and punctual, and keep you informed of your pools needs and levels after every service."

"The project went overall very well and the price was very good. Everyone seemed very knowledgeable and the owner was extremely helpful in addressing several of our concerns. They did a great job grinding out the cracks, smoothing the uneven surfaces, re-pouring a section that had raised up that sat on the pool edge, and covering it all with CoolDeck. The technicians came right on time and worked all day long for 3 days. It looks like we have an entirely new, re-poured deck now. Our three complaints are that our neighbor saw that that the technicians poured some mix or something into the storm drain when we were out. That's a no-no. Previously they poured some into a catch-basin of ours which drained into our neighbors larger drain system. He told us and was not happy nor were we. I also wished that their grinding tool had some kind of vacuum system on it. Instead, we had huge clouds of dust around the house while they were grinding. The second complaint was that the color was lighter than we expected from what we saw in the sample. The third complaint is that my wife is seeing a hair line crack forming around the pool where the owner suggested we have a coping cut line made, but which the concrete workers rejected saying it would weaken the structure too much. Now we may need to have them come back and make the cut line after all... and a ton more dust."

FAQs for swimming pool heaters repair or service projects in Lawrenceville, GA

Replacing a pool heater costs $3,000 on average. Final pricing depends on the type of heater (gas, electric, or solar) and your pool's size. Factor for swimming pool repair costs, at an average of $3,800. When you start experiencing issues with your pool heater, other equipment and structural failures often follow. Installation is often the least expensive for electric and gas heaters. Heat pumps and solar panels often cost several thousand dollars more to install.

A pool heater’s lifespan is determined by its type and proper upkeep. Solar heaters last 20 to 25 years, electric heat pumps perform for five to 10 years, and gas heaters remain effective for 5 years. Regular pool maintenance safeguards performance and prevents premature failure. Ensuring that you adhere to a strict annual service schedule protects your investment and maintains consistent heating efficiency.

Depending on the size of your pool, location, climate, and current energy prices, you’ll spend up to $20 per hour to heat a pool using propane, $9 per hour using natural gas, and $1 to $2 per hour for a heat pump. Northern climates require more energy and can double the price. Standard estimates allow homeowners to easily estimate the cost of heating a pool for a month. Propane heaters, for example, are known to burn around 1 gallon per hour per 100,000 BTUs.

An electric or gas heat pump will take eight to 14 hours to heat a pool, while a solar heat pump takes 24 to 72 hours. Multiply the number of gallons by 8.34 to get your total pounds of water. Divide this figure by your heater's BTU rating to determine how many hours it takes to raise the water temperature by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

If your pool heater is not raising the water temperature to the desired level, the issue is caused by cold ambient conditions rather than a malfunction. The best solution is to install a solar cover that locks in heat and boosts efficiency. A solar cover costing $120 to $250 enhances heat retention, ensuring your heater performs at its peak. Additionally, verify that all settings—such as thermostat calibration and water circulation—are properly adjusted to support optimal heating.

Regular annual maintenance is crucial to keep your pool heater running efficiently and to avoid high repair costs. Investing $100 to $200 in yearly maintenance prevents issues such as excessive noise, surging energy bills, and malfunctioning controls. This proactive care not only prolongs your heater’s lifespan but also ensures reliable performance throughout the season. Always refer to your warranty guidelines to follow the required maintenance procedures.
