Joe Kelly, the owner, is genuinely one of the most knowledgable and helpful people we've ever worked with. You can tell that he truly cares about his clients and his team and that's what makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE because they all go above and beyond to actually meet your needs rather than just trying to sell you on some high-end unit. We feel very lucky and thankful that we came across Joe and his team two years when one of our furnaces died during the middle of a horrible snowstorm. We had several companies try to overcharge us and up-sell us on more expensive units than we needed. Thankfully, Joe came out and provided us with an honest assessment of our needs and options and gave us an incredibly fair quote. His team installed the new furnace the next day! Since then, we've gone back to Polar Bear to replace our second furnace and both of our AC units (all were 15+ years old). Each and every time, Joe gave us an honest assessment, a fair quote, and his team always comes in and gets the job done without leaving a trace (even in the middle of a snow storm and the pouring rain, they even brought their own shoe covers). They are always considerate and stand by their work! A huge shout out to Edwin, Rodolfo, John, Angel, and the rest of the team for such amazing work. Our only wish is that Polar Bear provided other home services because it's difficult to find such trustworthy companies/contractors in DC. "I contacted Bluestar Air Mechanical for a second opinion after an appointment with Air One. I have a Carrier HVAC system, and the Air One technician recommended a complete system replacement, claiming the blower was bad, the furnace control board needed replacing, and that there were other issues. Since replacing the HVAC is a big investment, I wanted to get a second opinion. It was only after comparing the service from Bluestar that I realized Air One may have been pushing for a new system sale or lacked the expertise to properly diagnose and repair the actual problems. Isaac, the technician from Bluestar, spent about an hour thoroughly diagnosing and fixing the issues. He found burnt wiring in the furnace and discovered that the wrong capacitor had been incorrectly installed in the AC. Isaac replaced the burnt wiring in the furnace and the capacitor in the AC. After these repairs, my Carrier system was back up and running—without the need for a costly replacement. Bluestar, and Isaac in particular, demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and honesty. They focused on resolving the actual issues instead of pushing for an unnecessary system replacement. I highly recommend Bluestar for their reliable service and Isaac’s thorough and knowledgeable work."

"I have been a customer for a very long time and this scheduled maintenance and dryer vent cleaning was done by Cesar. I have to say he is one very thorough technician and I was very pleased with his inspection and vent cleaning. His service was so different than some of the ones I've had before. I even had one inspector tell me he didn't need to check in my attic which houses one of our two units. Let me tell you about Cesar, he even cleaned up behind my dryer for me. This is something that is rare in customer service. I have my HVAC seasonally maintenanced and never had a inspector be as thorough as him. The pictures he took and explained to me and the one problem he found that no other inspector had found in all this time. I tried to spare him from the attic heat for the repair and have him return on another day in the morning but he didn't mind going back in there to fix the problem for us although it was in the dead heat of the day. I just hope the company sees this review and knows what a good technician they have in Cesar."

"Update: 7/1/2021 - I had Neighborhood Specialists come out and replace/upgrade two furnaces, two AC units, water heater, and air filtration system in our new home. Once again, stellar service! Neighborhood Specialists have been my go-to for many years now. Everything from AC repairs on my old AC unit, whole house humidifier install, to replacing the AC and Furnace completely. Dependable, on-time, professional, honest, and a great value. I have recommended them to many neighbors and friends. You will not be disappointed!"

"Very pleased. Our 18 year old AC unit needed a charge. Aside from the fact that R-22 is almost extinct, the unit ran fairly well for a builder grade 10 seer. R-22 is quite costly these days. Service call was made with a fast response during a busy period. The unit was charged and inspected and the house cooled down. During the inspection it was noted that the gas furnace was rusted to a point where the gas valve had to be turned off. Time for a new system. AC and furnace replaced. There was one minor glitch but it was resolved. This glitch was no fault of the installers. The unit is up and running perfectly. There was no up selling. I had done my research and chose a system within our budget that would work well and it does. I chose Pope’s because a few years back they came out and gave me advice on my DIY thermostat replacement with no charge. I wrote a review back then and said I would call them when I needed service. They seem to operate under the radar - no TV advertising as far as I know. Their price is fair and I will be calling them shortly again to replace a gas water heater. Thanks"
