"It has been said, that with every great success, begins with a single small step. Recently, I was faced with my home's central air system failure. Upon review, by my previous contractor, the system could not be repaired and would need to be replaced. Faced with major cost replacement, I used Home Advisor, to select a professional that could provide an estimate for providing needed replacement. "We had a problem with a drain from a window well that would result in continuous flooding in our basement. We were finally able to fix the problem with the drain and hopefully prevent further flooding. So we contacted two businesses about mold remediation and removal of the damaged drywall and paneling. The first company, provided a good estimate but they were not as professional or reliable as we wanted. After searching online we were able to located American Home Services and then used Angie's List and saw they had great reviews. I immediately called them about receiving a free estimate and they offered to be out at my house the next day to give us an estimate. The President of the company was the person who came out to give us our estimate. He was able to explain everything that would need to be done a reasonable time frame (2 days). I received the completed estimate within 24 hours and scheduled the appointment shortly there after. American Home Services responded on time and placed plastic down in the hallway that leads to our basement to prevent any damage to our floors. My wife and I then waited as they worked for the day and after they completed the days work, they then showed us the basement and what they completed. Overnight they left a dehumidifier and other equipment to complete the work. The next day they came back and hand cleaned any spots that weren't completely cleaned within the first day's work. After they were done, I was then shown the basement and the work that was done. I then received a receipt for the services and a print out of all the work/chemicals that were used in the basement during the repair. American Home Services then provided us with a warranty to come back and fix any problems within the first year. Overall American Home Services is a great business that is willing to work with their clients and make sure that their needs and concerns are met.

"I had a nightmare situation with my home warranty company where I had been waiting 50+ days with no end in site for getting my AC fixed. I just needed a fan motor and capacitor but they were doing nothing. I called Grove & Son and not only did he agree to come out, but he had a couple cancellations and offered to come earlier. He ordered the parts needed, had them overnighted and in 2 days my unit was fixed and is running fantastic. Not only that but he was a friendly, professional, great conversationalist and an understanding ear. "I needed the splash guard replaced on my 2007 Honda Civic in a hurry because it was dragging on the ground. My boyfriend and I have been regular ABS Unlimited Auto Repair customers for about two years, so he called them on Columbus Day to see if they could squeeze me in. They said to come right in. When we went in, Tom took a look at it, called the Honda dealership and ordered the part. ABS had it installed by the afternoon. The service was great.
The extraordinary part came when I went to pick up the car. My bumper had become detached on the drivers side a few years ago when I was parked at the Metro. ABS professionally reattached the bumper at no charge...without even telling me! I continue to be delighted by their excellent service. Everyone on the staff is very friendly and helpful. "Friends were supposed to host me near Dulles Airport, then cancelled due to illness at last minute.
I therefore reached "Boris" at Lisa's Elite Sedans the night before around 9pm, requesting a 6am pick-up.
I thought his quote of $70 sounded expensive, so I called around to the airport shuttles and several cab companies.
The two major airport shuttles/vans had HORRIBLE reviews online, for which I called both of their customer service lines and got nowhere with their high school-aged clerks.  They may deserve their rotten reputations as I wrote to both companies online subsequently and never heard anything back.
I also called a couple of high-end DC hotels to ask for referrals to reputable taxi services... and ultimately the prices quoted were the same as Lisa's... or more.
I called Boris again around 9pm, requesting pickup at 6am the next morning.  We discussed traffic concerns.  He arrived early, waited for me to collect myself as I left my house.  I think he did a great job and I would trust him again.
