"Took most of a morning. |My gas inlet had to be altered to fit the log set in what had been a wood |burning fire place. Great job of installation. |This unit works with flu open or shut.  With flu closed, the heat rises out and heats up the wood mantle.  I had to buy a metal shield for the mantle. |In future I will not buy a pilot light or a remote control. The pilot makes a hissing noise in a quiet room. The remote only works sometimes. |"

"The next day he came out with 2 of his guys, Daniel and Scott. The three of them dug up the pipe all the way down to the street, fixed the problem, filled the hole back in all in a day's time. They said they'll come back out once it dries out (rained hard last night) and tamp down the loose dirt. These guys are quick, efficient, and a delight to have around."

"Alan and Darryl came to our house on the day we called them, gave us an estimate and returned the next day to install the gas hot water heater.  They installed new fittings to bring it up to code and hauled off the old water heater.  They were very professional, friendly and did a great job.  I would definitely recommend them. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Locust Fork, AL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
