"Trinity Heating installed a new thermostat in my house. The technician, Jimmy, was professional and courteous. After the installation he took the time to explain to me how to set up and use the new thermostat. I’m completely satisfied with their service and will use them again if needed."

"Service was great and pricing very competitive. Nick Knuth was very knowledgeable when he came to do an assessment of the work to be done, and answered all my questions I'm a very clear way. The techs worked pretty quickly and efficiently when installing the new unit. Deisy and Emma from the office always made sure that things were taken care of and went above and beyond with follow-ups and updates. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs this service."

"Our experience with DNA was excellent. As soon as I contacted them, Andrew called and visited us. He quickly inpected our attic, which had had a major rat infestation and extremely old heater ducts. He gave us a reasonable estimate for cleaning and sanitizing the attic, replacing the old insulation, and installing new ducts. The crew of Ivan, Andrew, Amanda and Denicio worked quickly and were very personable, reliable and efficient. They kindly removed all the old boxes stored in the attic which was not part of the original work. We especially liked that Andrew followed up with us after the job was completed, to ensure we were satisfied, and offering to come and fix any problems we might have. We could not be happier with DNA and highly recommend them for any heating issues."

"Tony at TME Construction was very professional, accurate and reasonable with his price quotes, and accurate with his project time line estimates. As always with these extensive remodeling projects, there were a few hiccups along the way, but his response and ability to adapt to our changes and requests without adding on any significant cost to the total made us very satisfied at the end. Tony's and his team are top notch and the quality of work that they produce are second to none. Here's the full story of how it went. My wife and I purchased a home with the plan to remodel the entire kitchen and replacing the carpet/tile with wood flooring. After we had placed the order in for the cabinets and the appliances we wanted, we started to look at contractors who could perform the entire job and spoke to 4 different contractors and got various quotes. Tony at TME Construction wasn't the cheapest quote we got, but he also was not the most expensive. He was just around the average price quote we got. What made us eventually go with him was a combination of his numerous reviews, his knowledge and experience with kitchen remodeling projects, and his reasonable price. When I agreed to hire him, I told him that I wanted to use my own painter and my own electrician. This was because I felt that his quotes for painting were a bit higher than I got from another painter that was recommended to me, the same with the electrical work. The tricky thing about hiring a general contractor like Tony, and then also hiring out your own sub contractors, is now you need to coordinate all of the parts. At first, this seemed doable, and it went okay. But eventually, I started to see the flaw in my thinking because the few thousand dollars that i saved by hiring my own electrician, painter, and demolition person, ended up causing me a lot more grief in the end. So the way that my electrician had run the wires through the walls, didn't work for the way that the cabinets were being hung. So Tony had to fix the work of my own electrician. Luckily, he didn't charge me an arm and a leg.. maybe just a couple of fingers. If I had to do it all over again, I would just let Tony handle everything from the beginning, despite the higher cost. Tony's team is very competent. You could tell by the quality of work when it came to installing the cabinets and making sure they were all lined up properly, to installing the giant countertops, to making sure that the appliances were all installed correctly. What I liked about the way Tony works is that he hires the expert he knows for a particular job. He does not have a bunch of generalists that can do everything. He has a specific tile guy, a specific electrician, a specific cabinet installer, etc.. What this means is you get very knowledgeable people for each job. In addition, Tony himself is on the job and doing the work as well even though he technically could have his employees do it for him. He was there checking the work at every stage and making sure that things were done correctly. If something was not right, he would have someone redo the work until its right. The estimated time to complete the full kitchen remodel was about 3 to 4 weeks. It ended up an extra week and a half due to circumstances out of his control. We were waiting on parts that didn't come in time. Even after I had paid him in full, which was after the job was completed, he was still very responsive and dealt with any questions I had regarding things that I had issues with. For example, our Thermador freezer's ice maker was not working. I called Thermador first because I thought that the ice maker was broken. Thermador sent someone out and the person said there was no water coming in from the line. So I called Tony back and said that the water line was not hooked up correctly. Now with a 60" fridge and freezer, this was no easy task to remedy. Tony sent 3 guys from his team to look at the problem. They pulled the massive fridge and freezer out from wall to diagnose the problem and eventually figured out that the person who I hired to demo the original kitchen, also removed the line that sent the water from the sink to the back of the fridge. They added a new line to make the connection and the ice maker was fine. Despite this not being Tony's team's fault, he was still willing to send his team to remedy the problem because he cared about our overall satisfaction as a customer of his. If I have another major remodeling job in the future, I would not hesitate to hire Tony at TME again. In fact, I recommended Tony to another friend of mine who wanted to remodel his kitchen, and Tony did a great job there as well. The only thing I'd do differently is not try to hire my own workers to make the job cheaper, because it just added unnecessary complications and it didn't really save me money in the end."

"There was just miscommunication in the beginning. I called to confirm my appointment as the technician was now late. They didnâ t have me down for that day or any record of my call. I then had to wait for parts to be ordered after diagnosing the broken freezer. I didnâ t know if he was going to order it. He said to call the office and tell them to order it which seemed weird. Then I couldnâ t pull out the refrigerator to unplug it myself in order to let it sit for 24 hours defrosting once the parts were in.. I was told on the phone that I had a circuit to the fridge that I could turn off. He had never seen my outdated box. Finally had it repaired which was quick at that point. Knowledgeable technician though."

"Being a nice guy and feeling ripped off by a contractor is two very different things. We chose Michael Howard based on his response time , being personable and reviews. He's a very nice guy but in the end felt ripped off. We found that our initial interactions was very pleasant. He couldn?t determine with his assistant or figure the problem of our central heating unit and then told us we needed to replace the entire electrical circuit board. Cost was $750. He replaced the board and it still didn't solve the issue of heating up. He then determined that it was the motor that was the issue. Additional cost to repair $400. What was frustrating was that after speaking with other reliable sources while the job was taking place I asked Michael Howard for the old circuit board. He claimed that I told him to discard it. Not true at all. It was a red flag when a contractor is making up a story and calling me a home owner a liar. Why would I tell a contractor to throw out any parts until the job was solved and completes ? That truly concerns me as a home owner. Why would a professional discard the old circuit board fir the entire heating system before the job was finished ? My neighbor who's a contractor wanted to review the old circuit board. Then a day later Michael Howard returned with parts for the motor. He insisted and needed a confirmation of payment before he would repair the motor. Wanted me to sign an agreement when I questioned his judgement and concern that he might have replaced a circuit board that was perfectly fine since he later discovered the motor issue. I went up into the attic and found the old board. I asked him to now try the old board that I found discarded in the attic ( same part he claimed was discarded ). He told me that once he put in the new board it would be impossible to return it to the supplier that he purchased it from. Even with several hours of purchasing it. I asked him to show me a receipt and that I would call the vender. He refused. Ok so he didn't want to show me the receipt. When I looked up the part on line it sells for $90. So his mark up is 600%. I understand the time and labor but it was not very long. He then told me he would not charge the $400 for the parts for the motor. Wow. Bottom line is that when we later replaced the old board to test it , it worked fine. The real issue was the motor. The fact that he didn't want to make the effort to return it to the supplier with 24 hours is because he wanted to make the money. Clearly. Willing to not charge for the motor parts doesn't make me feel any better. Just made me recognize how much I was being ripped off. . And doesn't give the confidence to ever use this contractor again or recommend him regardless of all the terrific reviews."

FAQs for thermostat installation and replacement projects in Los Angeles, CA

Smart thermostats may be worth it for many homeowners. They come with various features, including voice control and smartphone apps. Vacation mode can help lower energy usage when you’re out of town for an extended period. Alert warnings let you know about major spikes or drops in temperature. Smartphone apps can track energy usage, and smart thermostats can learn your routine over time to adjust your temperature and reduce wasted energy consumption automatically.

You typically do not need more than one smart thermostat. While it’s common to see multiple mechanical thermostats throughout a large home, multiple smart thermostats may try to override each other. This can lead to problems with the HVAC system. Ensure the unit you buy has the option for dual- or multi-zoned systems to avoid compatibility issues.

Installing a programmable or smart thermostat may save you $180 per year in utility costs. A big part of this comes from a smart thermostat’s ability to learn and adapt to your regular routines. With smartphone apps or web-based interfaces, you also have the option to control your thermostat when you’re not home.
