"Absolutely Fantastic I have worked with many wonderful contractors over the years but Rick Cox (dba Carolina Carpenter) is at the top of the list. He and his son, Josh, are extremely talented, resourceful and get the job done at a reasonable cost. They and the electrician, plumber and other professionals they use are delightful to work with and of the highest honesty and integrity. In June 2018 my wife and I purchased a house in Connestee Falls, Brevard, NC which was beautifully located but in need a great deal of work. After interviewing a number of contractors, we chose Rick because of his directness, obvious competence and easy manner. The renovation required complete gutting of the core areas, including the removal of several walls and a faux stone wood-burning fireplace. Rick started while we were still in NY and when we arrived in mid-August, he had neatly removed the fireplace. In the following 11 months, he replaced it with gas burning fireplaces in the living room and adjoining Master Bedroom (a very difficult thing to do in the space we had), expanded the rear hall, closed several exterior windows, installed 4 exterior windows and sliding doors, re-floored, re-sided and painted most of the common areas, rebuilt and upgraded the stairway to the lower level and put in a fantastic new kitchen. The project cost six figures and encountered many setbacks as removal of walls and floors exposed poor electrical work and many other preexisting deficiencies. However, in each case, Rick, Josh and his associates developed creative solutions and, as we went along, they helped us refine our vision of what we wanted so that the finished product far exceeded our initial expectations. With his fine carpentry expertise, Rick provided a new beamed ceiling and log mantle and wood work around the new living room fireplace which is itself the artistic focal point of the room. He also transformed an eye-sore half wall into a beautiful built-in cabinet which is integral to the new dining area. Rick and Josh work quietly and efficiently and are upfront about timelines and their availability. In fact, when the demands of a difficult new client caused them to fall behind the timeline they set, they worked on weekends to get current. You would be fortunate to have Rick and Josh working with you. We were. They came as workmen but stayed as friends. "Eric, through his receptionist, advised that since it was a fairly small job, an hourly rate of $135.00 for first hour and $35.00 per hour after that was agreed to. However, I did not realize that instead of working full days to complete the project, it took 4 days ( 3 hours one day, 4 hours another, etc) to complete. Therefore they charged $135.00 for the first hour each day for 4 days. If the guys had worked longer each day it would have been completed in less days; therefore less cost to me. Eric's office was contacted but Eric advised the pricing was correct."

"He is willing to take on any project and then some. My honest feeling is that his enthusiasm somewhat outpaces his expertise and experience. He is a diligent worker and stays with the project. His painting went well though speed seems to trump care and preparation (He painted over some unsanded spackle repairs). My main problem was that instead of the two painters that were advertised, it was him and what I believe was his girlfriend who was inexperienced and sometimes just watched him paint. It should have been advertised as one painter and a helper. The price though was very reasonable and the finished product was adequate. He is likable and I believe honest and trustworthy. I would use him again especially if it was a project that just needed to be knocked out."

This included both minor & moderate sheet rock repairs, kitchen walls, cabinets, drawers and some importants items in my bathrooms. They repaired some issues with my motion detectors and other electrical work as well.
The cleanup was excellent and I would highly recommend Abstract Painting to anyone considering complete house restoration & minor to moderate carpentry and home repairs.
