"Repair guy was nice and did good work. Was not told ahead of time that I would need to pay 408 dollars for essentially hooking up a wet vac to the end of a pipe and turning it on for thirty seconds Expected to pay $200 Actual payment was $493 Line codes from the invoice S-Service Call $85.00 S-Blow Out Condensate Drain $408.00 DESCRIPTION OF WORK / RECOMMENDATIONS from vendor Condensate pvc drain clogged with sludge & slime. Cleared condensate drain with nitrogen & vacuum. Unit draining properly after repair. 0ppm co reading. No gas leaks found. Customer recently had a cc completed. All ok at departure. Recommendation is that if you need this service performed is to get a quote in writing from the vendor ahead of time or just get a shop vac and do it yourself. Will not recommend although would like to hear vendor response as to how this poor customer experience could work better. (UPDATE): The Vendor has reached out to try and mitigate the cost and is much appreciated."

"We've been dealing with a gas leak in our house for over a year and a half. The gas company could not locate it and we had tried several different companies before we came across Perrin Gas on Angie's List. He came out on the day he said and was awesome! He found where we had small gas leaks behind the stove & refrigerator in the walls as well as in the furnace room. The price was very reasonable and well under what we were thinking it might cost. Best of all the gas smell is gone!! We were so happy with the work of Perrin Gas!"

"Crew from RA Mechanical and Plumbing came right on time, just as they promised. They provided me a quote over the phone and outlined the work that needed to get done. The crew was very responsive to my questions and provided me excellent information on the water heater and the price. The crew was very thorough and made sure the installation was complete. They found a small leak in the pipes and made sure it was fixed before they left. Overall excellent experience and would use them again if needed."

"He arrived a little late in the day, calling me as he was a little lost.  He got busy right away. The technician cleaned the grill and got it working.  He is planning to return to replace a broken ignitor.   <br /> While he was here, he also checked out a gas lamp out in the front.  He replaced the mantles and tried to ignite the lamp - however, it appeared to have a clog in the gas line. <br /> He was very friendly and professional <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Manhattan, IL

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
