"The team came out and were very honest about what need to be done. Instead of charging me to put in new rollers on my patio sliding doors, which they could on easily done, they said I only needed the tracks cleaned any oiled. They were very professional and went beyond by showing me how to tell when the rollers would need changed out and how to do it. "

Small jobs welcome

"Amazing group of repair professionals. I highly recommend Mr. Handyman Pittsburgh East. The deck on my house needed to be replaced. Rick, the Project Manager, and Todd, Chuck, Shawn and Jack, the service techs who worked on the deck, were excellent, very professional and neat, cleaning up every day. When I started talking with Rick about this project, I thought it wasn't going to possible for me to have everything taken care of in one undertaking. I must admit that cost was the major stumbling block. The deck is large and lumber/material costs took my breath away. But Rick worked with me, adjusting the materials and the design and making suggestions to help me make it happen! The deck was completed yesterday and I couldn't be happier. I now have a lovely place to sit and enjoy the day and my dog Spencer has a safe place to play outside. Thank you so much for all of your patience, kindness and, of course, excellent work!"

"While moving a boxspring we broke one of the panes in the window on the landing of our steps. Being the window was over 30 years old, it made sense to see about having it replaced with a new window. We got a recommendation from a neighbor for Pittsburgh Window and Door. The sales guy came out about 10 days after we called and took some measurements and gave us an estimate. Because it was just the one window, we were happy with the price and didn't feel like shopping around. Got the process stared and the window was ordered and got a call a few weeks later to set up a time to have it installed. The two guys arrived right on time and had the old window out and the new one in in about 35 minutes and were on their way. As we have the rest of our windows in need of being replaced in the new few years, we'll be sure to call them when the time comes to have that work done"

"Their good. They do gutters and windows. I used them in the past and one time they were good and the other they weren't, they could be more consistent.  I wouldn't use them again because we found someone local to do it cheaper."

"Very nice guy to deal with!  Was on time, came with another worker and explained exactly what they use on the window surfaces and the fees involved.  Both myself and my husband thought the windows looked great and we scheduled a future cleaning.  I see he offers additional services, so I will be scheduling an auto detail and gutter and garage door cleaning. <br />"

"Legacy Remodeling did a fantastic job installing my whole house Provia Endure windows. I found this local company to be a pleasure to deal with from the initial sales consultation through installation and follow-up. The office staff, Ashley and Kelly, were always responsive and helpful, and pricing was reasonable with several options available. The Provia windows are easy to operate and clean, so we are very happy with the quality of the product that comes with a lifetime warranty. We were most impressed by the installation team. They were efficient, friendly, and very respectful of our property, covering everything both inside and out during removal of the old casement windows, cleaning up as they moved to each window. The team’s technical expertise was evident with precise installation, attention to detail with finishing touches, and showing us how to open the windows and remove screens. Overall, I would highly recommend Legacy Remodeling and the Provia Endure windows to anyone replacing one or all of their windows."

"Kenny was absolutely perfect. A+ Great communication and arrived exactly on time. He and his crew were extremely professional, competent and service levels that are rare to see these days. They installed 19 sashes and when there was a problem with the order (not their fault, they weren't involved with the order) , Kenny took the initiative to resolve it with Andersen for us. I would recommend Clearview to everyone and plan to do so when anyone asks me about windows."

"I called RIT Construction after experiencing unexpected plumbing issues with the sink. They came to my house in less than 24 hours to fix it. They’ve since returned to my house to assist with other repairs. They are polite, easy to work with, and complete tasks quickly and thoroughly. Very cost effective as well. I would highly recommend them to any home owner in need of repairs."

"Jack came promptly to measure and give a price.  Had to wait for the weather to turn for the installation, but when it finally happened, the windows were installed quickly and professionally, and clean-up included takeaway and cleaning the new glass and caulking as needed.  I was impressed enough with my job that I got Expert Glass for my mom.  The price is reasonable--less expensive than getting entirely new windows. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Monroeville, PA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
