"This company did a fantastic job in replacing a rusted pool ladder we had and a bad pool light. It was a tough job as there were some obstacles in the way the pool was built but they came in and knocked it out in no time. I high recommend this company for anything for your pool. I will be using them next year to paint my fiberglass pool as well."

"These young men took the inner working of the main electrical power distribution center of my house loose. Dismantled the connections and removed the panel, installed A new panel box, installed all the proper breaker and connected the wiring back in the right order. All in all an amazing feat to be completed in the time in was done. Puled up to the house at 7 in the morning and by 1:30 early the same afternoon power shut off to the house, MDP (main distribution Panel) and all associated hardware switched over, inspected and approved by State Electrical Inspector, and power restored. WOW. This company is about a year old and the young man that owns it is old school. His thinking is simple and straight forward. If I need work done and I'm in the area, one decision will be easy to make.

"I hired JAG Pools to remodel my 30 year-old inground vinyl liner pool. I live in Nashville about eight minutes from downtown. They added a bench in the shallow in and put in new stairs that had rotted, etc. They also used pool creat to smooth out the bottom of the pool floor and repaired the pool walls as well. It really modernized the look of our pool. They also install the brand new vinyl liner and I was very happy with the overall final product & color. I would highly recommend Jag Pools for anyone needing help with remodeling their inground pool. They were professional and showed up on time and did a great job!"

"I have used Mike McMillion Pool Company multiple times. The first time my filter pump motor stopped working and my usual pool company (which I won't name) couldn't/wouldn't come for a week and a half. It was the same story with other pool companies that I contacted. It was very hot in the middle of summer and my pool would degenerate into a slimy green mess in just a few days if I didn't get things fixed immediately. After I called several places I called Mike McMillion and he adjusted some appointments to come the next day, explaining that he understood my predicament and knew that I need help immediately. He came over and had the pump running the next day. Rather than replacing the entire motor, he explained that he simply needed to change the motor's capacitor and it was a cheap fix. I had been ready to pay for a whole new motor but got a minor bill for his work. The next time I used MicMillion Pool company was just last week. I have a large cleaner pump that was operating poorly. Mike repaired the very large and expensive pump rather than forcing me to buy a new one.. He left the old parts with me and I saw how the old one had failed. It is rare to find a seasoned and honest repair person who can and will charge fairly, be responsive to calls and try his best to serve his customer. Mike McMillion does that. I recommend him highly. My experience with McMillion Pool Company has been exceptional."

We hired Riverwood Pools to do an in-ground pool and deck renovation and upgrade in the late summer of 2014. After contracting with the company and work had begun, we were informed by the owner, Ted Wyler, that renovations are not as money-making for him as new builds, therefore we were basically a second-rate customer. Along the way there were other small issues (normal with construction and renovations). For the new pool, we utilized some options he did not typically use, but still suggested and sold to us. A few of which created major issues have taken many months to resolve, and one that is still not resolved:
1) He installed blue steps (instead of the typical white), but a chemical used on the concrete coping forms damaged/bleached them which resulted in visible "drips." To fix, he drained the pool to the bottom step and re-filled the pool multiple times while he attempted to resolve with various chemicals and sanding. The marks are still faintly visible.

2) We converted the pool to saltwater, but he did not install the salt cell unit we requested. He also suggested and sold us a ladder and railing that were not rated for use in salt-water. As soon as they were placed in the water it voided the warranty. By mid-June almost all the finish had flaked off the ladder. We contacted him for a replacement as soon as the first flake came off (early Summer 2015) and have been given excuse after excuse since.

The last we spoke with him was Spring of this year (when we happened to run into him at lunch in Gallatin). He mentioned getting out of the business, complaining about complications, and gave us the excuse that he needs to get paid on another job in order to pay for and deliver our new railings. He told us he ordered them and they are sitting in the warehouse (which we do not believe). He has yet to return any of our recent attempts to contact him. We have been more than patient with this company and are pursuing dispute resolution.

FAQs for swimming pool heaters repair or service projects in Nashville, TN

Replacing a pool heater costs $3,000 on average. Final pricing depends on the type of heater (gas, electric, or solar) and your pool's size. Factor for swimming pool repair costs, at an average of $3,800. When you start experiencing issues with your pool heater, other equipment and structural failures often follow. Installation is often the least expensive for electric and gas heaters. Heat pumps and solar panels often cost several thousand dollars more to install.

A pool heater’s lifespan is determined by its type and proper upkeep. Solar heaters last 20 to 25 years, electric heat pumps perform for five to 10 years, and gas heaters remain effective for 5 years. Regular pool maintenance safeguards performance and prevents premature failure. Ensuring that you adhere to a strict annual service schedule protects your investment and maintains consistent heating efficiency.

Depending on the size of your pool, location, climate, and current energy prices, you’ll spend up to $20 per hour to heat a pool using propane, $9 per hour using natural gas, and $1 to $2 per hour for a heat pump. Northern climates require more energy and can double the price. Standard estimates allow homeowners to easily estimate the cost of heating a pool for a month. Propane heaters, for example, are known to burn around 1 gallon per hour per 100,000 BTUs.

An electric or gas heat pump will take eight to 14 hours to heat a pool, while a solar heat pump takes 24 to 72 hours. Multiply the number of gallons by 8.34 to get your total pounds of water. Divide this figure by your heater's BTU rating to determine how many hours it takes to raise the water temperature by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

If your pool heater is not raising the water temperature to the desired level, the issue is caused by cold ambient conditions rather than a malfunction. The best solution is to install a solar cover that locks in heat and boosts efficiency. A solar cover costing $120 to $250 enhances heat retention, ensuring your heater performs at its peak. Additionally, verify that all settings—such as thermostat calibration and water circulation—are properly adjusted to support optimal heating.

Regular annual maintenance is crucial to keep your pool heater running efficiently and to avoid high repair costs. Investing $100 to $200 in yearly maintenance prevents issues such as excessive noise, surging energy bills, and malfunctioning controls. This proactive care not only prolongs your heater’s lifespan but also ensures reliable performance throughout the season. Always refer to your warranty guidelines to follow the required maintenance procedures.
