"Reliable, honest service, and fair prices. They just did a two-system replacement for us and it went extremely well. I've been working with Robby and his team for over 10 years on behalf of third-party clients and he is one of the most trustworthy contractors I've known. When I moved to the Atlanta area two years ago it was a no-brainer to hire R Wiley for my home's yearly HVAC maintenance package and I'm glad I did. We've had Miguel, one of R Wiley's outstanding technicians out for service and maintenance and I've been happy with his work and helping to diagnose issues. When it came time to replace our very old AC & Furnace units, there was no sales pressure - just consultative solutions. R Wiley's pricing was in line with some of the more affordable bids and they don't try to push you into super high-priced marked-up units or things that should be included with installation, or all those "financing" programs where you end up paying way more for your project. Installation with Marvin was awesome - they were done with two units in one day and what a difference it's made. Overall an awesome experience from day one, with a successful multiple unit replacement. I'm glad I have them to continue to keep the units serviced on an annual basis as well. Highly recommend!"

"The cost was $5200 for the installation and the device as well. It was excellent service. They did more than just the installation. I didn't know this, but when they give you a new air conditioning unit and heating unit, is essentially, they bring the components out and actually assemble it out in the yard and they out it up in your attic. I found them from a third party and they inspected it with Jones Climate Control. The two of them worked as a team to see what I needed. They took measurements to figure out the size of my unit, they gave me an estimate for what I was going to need for my house, then they went ahead and devised a plan, not only for the new unit for the upstairs, but also devised a plan based on what I told them about inadequate air flow to remap the ducting. The price included all of that. Then, what they did was, after they did it, the third party wrote out the contract by hand and then he ensured that he could actually read it, went over it line by line, to make sure I could read it, and based on that, he told me who the install people were going to be and what the price of the regular maintenance price was going to be. They did run into one tiny little hiccup at the end. They were going to put in a new register on the upper floor because they had actually put in a new duct, I guess, in the hallway section and the register wasn't the right size and the guy said he'd come back later that week to go ahead and put it on there. I, of course, was afraid that he wasn't going to do it because at that point it was a small item, I think they had been paid, so I called the third party because he followed up and called back himself two days later to see how they did. I said, "They had done a decent job, but they didn't have the size of this and I'm not sure if they are really going to come back", and he said, "well, I'm going to have a few words to say about that", and sure enough, and I'm not saying it was because of the third party said, they did come back as they said they would and they finished up on time."

FAQs for swamp cooler installation and replacement projects in Nelson, GA

Swamp coolers are quite energy-efficient, using only 15% to 35% of the electricity that traditional central air conditioning units consume. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills. However, keep in mind that swamp coolers require water to operate and may not cool your home as effectively in extremely hot or humid conditions. When considering overall efficiency, it is essential to weigh both electricity and water usage, as well as the cooling needs specific to your local climate.

Evaporative coolers only work in dry climates because they cool by moistening the air. If the air is already moist, this will have little to no cooling effect. Central AC is a better choice if you live in a humid climate, such as the Midwest, eastern, or western coastal regions.

To install a swamp cooler on a roof, a local HVAC specialist will first find and cut a spot free of wiring and obstructions. They’ll then install metal bracing, legs, brackets, the ceiling duct register, ductwork, power, and thermostat wires. Once installed, they’ll seal all openings, attach duct connections, and install a thermostat. Before leaving, they’ll run cool water piping to the unit and inspect all the connections.

The cost to repair your swamp cooler ranges from $50 to $600, depending on the issue, whether new parts are needed, and the chosen repair service. Depending on the type of pad your system uses, you will need to change out the pads every one to three years for proper operation. When budgeting for the cost to repair a window unit, expect to pay around $230.

The U.S. Department of Energy states that swamp coolers can cool a single room by five to 15 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this largely depends on the size and installation method of the evaporative cooler. You can only achieve these results in a dry climate, such as the American South, as it’s easier to cool rooms in humid environments with central air.

Swamp cooler water usage varies depending on the size of the unit. Smaller evaporative units may use one gallon per hour, while much larger units could use up to 15 gallons of water per hour. Most homeowners can expect their unit to use between seven and 10 gallons of water per hour of usage.
