"I couldn't be more pleased. My aluminum-sided house looks fantastic. I wish I had before and after photos to upload. Terry's son spent about 4 hours hand painting my front door in the 3 color scheme I wanted. I can't comment on price because I only got the one quote. My neighbor went to HS with his sisters and I had a reference from another neighbor."

"In both 2014 and 2013, the Owner was extremely flexible in working around my schedule and he and his foreman frequently were present during the day to oversee and make sure workers had materials, were doing work as agreed upon, etc.  <br /> Company's motto - is we do quality work and if there is a problem, we will do it until it is right - and they did!  The plaster walls did not absorb the paint like wallboard does, and consequently they gave some rooms 4-5 coats until there was uniform coverage - at no extra cost.  Any issues I raised were handled by the management without objections, promptly and courteously. The estimate prices were fair and there were no surprise additional charges, etc. tacked on. <br /> Workers were courteous, pleasant, helpful, neat and cleaned up after themselves. They arrived on agreed upon days and worked from 7 or 7:30 AM until 5:30-6:00 PM.  Automatically they taped and covered with plastic, the kitchen cabinets, panelling, etc.  They readily and carefully moved furniture as needed. They removed most of the few paint spots they made and also cleaned up some of the old paint on the woodwork that had been left behind by the previous painters years ago. <br /> While they do not wash walls (we did that ourselves prior to painting), they did sand the walls. They did a good job patching holes, etc. and if an occasional spot was not to my liking, they readily redid it without any objection.  <br /> As it turned out, this was not an easy job for the painters.  I was very pleased overall and would readily hire this company again. <br /> <br />"

"Stephen is a true master of his craft. We were fortunate to work with him. He took the time and effort to do measure twice cut once - which is exactly what you want with something like an 10x12 wallpaper mural. Details matter - and he executed flawlessly. Will work together again."

"Matt gave me a far better price than other painters who priced my job, and the quality of his work was very high. He was extremely responsive to my requests and showed real integrity through the entire process. He definitely wanted to make sure I was happy with the work and that the job was done right. He did the entire interior of my house, and also some work on exterior (patched and then painted lower portion of home, below where siding started, and also sanded and painted my deck). He also removed some wallpaper before painting inside. Would definitely hire again. I felt I got real value for the price."

"Overall, I was delighted. In particular, Danny did an outstanding job of cleaning up each day! Stripping that wallpaper must have been an extremely messy job, but there was no indication of debris after he left for the day. The painting was neat and professional looking. The only flaws were due to lack of communication on my part - I forgot to take out the air conditioner in the window, and Danny painted around it. Also, he painted the outlet covers and light switch cover (because the previous bad paint job had left splatters of paint on them.) Next time, I will make sure to be clear about those kinds of things."

"If you are looking for someone who will treat your home as their own, look no further. They removed wallpaper, painted the ceilings and bedrooms, baths, living room, halls and laundry room. Carpeting was removed and new hardwood floors were installed. Rather than working with various contractors, it was great to find someone who could do it all. When the interior work was completed, they also powerwashed the house. They were punctual, very neat and a pleasure to work with. Weberson and his staff did a fantastic job."

"I have had this company do work for me quite a few times now. First was a three story barn. then my business reception area, office, show room, kitchen and bathroom. The price to do all the jobs were very reasonable. The jobs was done with complete care and concern for detail. All done in a timely manner. Very happy with the excellent workmanship. They were very respectful of my belongings, placed protective drape over everything. I recommend this company to anyone who needs to paint their business or their homes interior or exterior. I guarantee you will not be disappointed."

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in New Haven, CT

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
