"

I had 3 to do's I needed done.  One was accomplished.

On one, the workman stated the part I had wouldn't work, suggested I return the part for a similar part from a recommended supplier & then call provider back for another appt.

On the last to do, as I recall, he didn't have seals for the type of faucet that was leaking.  Workman suggested that we replace the faucet rather than have the seals replaced.  Again, recommended a supplier to obtain a new faucet & then we could call them back for another appt.

"A very professional, customer service oriented company. The technician was extremely skilled and knowledgable in his trade. Out of three appliances I scheduled for repair, he had the parts with him to repair two of the appliances same day and returned with the 3rd part at my next eariest convenience to repair the 3rd appliance."

"This was a much better experience that we initially envisioned. My wife and I designed the overall kitchen plan ourselves. We chose Tom (Good Neighbors LLC) because he had such high marks here at Angie's List, but we got multiple quotes from regular commercial kitchen remodel firms as well. We believe we saved perhaps 10K and we were able to have exactly the materials, designs, appliances, and sources we wanted. We were very explicit about how we needed good communication, we wanted professional quality and professional installation, and Tom made certain that all happened, not only with him but also with his sub-contractors as well. The only "issue" we faced that wasn't anticipated was an issue from the St. Louis County inspector on some electrical issues, which cost the project a week's delay -and 4 days without any power to our house- but Tom was quite reasonable, and reimbursed us for lost food in the refrigerator as well as two nights we needed to spend in a local hotel. And my wife and I believe the delay was not his or his sub-contractor's fault! My wife and I are semi-retired, so we had the time to visit multiple locations to see and choose materials (granite for counter tops, tile for floor and walls, plumbing fixtures, ceiling fans, etc.). But Tom has a list of providers that we could start with if we wanted, and we found every provider on his list was professional and knowledgeable about his/her specific area or product line. (Many were effusive about Tom's professionalism and "quality" of craftsmanship when they would ask who was our general contractor. We believe Tom enjoys a very good reputation in the industry and area.) It is our experience and understanding that almost every job the size and complexity of a whole kitchen remodel will have some small changes as the project moves along. There were a couple of those on this project as well. But Tom was very reasonable and considerate, and when the change involved substantial increases in time or materials, we agreed to changes in the original contract that were fair and equitable. (Along those lines, Tom provided an easily understood written estimate for us to compare to our other bids, and clear time-lines established for payments along the way, as various milestones were reached.) Overall, we believe Tom and Good Neighbors LLC is a professional construction organization. He handled the complexities of this large remodel job very well. We liked him and the people he worked with. Communication was never strained, was always a key component of the work, and we believe we got exactly what we paid for, for a great price, and enjoyed the process as much as anyone can who has to live without their kitchen for 6 weeks!"

FAQs for appliance (major electric appliance) installation and replacement projects in New Athens, IL

A pro starts by setting the units in place and connecting them to the right plumbing lines, electrical circuits, and, for the dryer, a vent. If the hookups already exist, the job is quick. When they don’t, the installer must add plumbing, outlets, or a vent run, which takes more time and increases the price, especially when the laundry area is located far from existing utilities.

You’ll need the right pros for a tight stacked setup. A natural-gas plumber handles the water lines, drain, and any gas work, while an electrician installs the circuit the dryer needs. If venting or framing changes are required, hire a general contractor to patch the drywall or adjust the framing so that everything meets code and operates safely.

Permanent models need complete plumbing, electrical, and—for dryers—vent hookups. Portable units skip most of that and can run on a standard outlet with a temporary water connection. If your home already has a code-approved hookup, you just connect the new appliances. If not, hire a licensed pro to add the lines and vent so the machines run safely and efficiently.

Relocating a hookup costs between $500 and $5,000, as it may involve installing new outlets, gas lines, vents, and drain pipes. The price increases when the new location is far from existing utilities or requires additional framing and drywall work. Have licensed professionals evaluate your layout, provide a quote for the move, and handle the installation so that every component meets code and works safely.
