"Got a service call deal for $34 and had them scheduled to come out and give an estimate to have a gas line extended to our laundry room for the dryer. The estimate ended up being much higher than we anticipated and we wanted to get a second estimate. We also asked if he could hook up our washer water supply, and he was unable to do so and recommended we re-run the pipes and valves as they were too old. We had another plumber coming out the next day from a previous work order, and asked for the estimate - it was half the price of Hope's, and he was able to attach the water connections with no problem. Felt like Hope plumber was just trying to invent work to get paid for."

"My mother-in-law contacted this company to fix a leaking gas line in her home. Plumber (Bryce) came out in a timely manner and checked on the status of their lines. After finding 11 leaks near fittings it was recommended to replace the old gas line. At this point, everything seemed good and then came the quote. This company wanted roughly $3800 to replace by their estimate; 50ft of line from the meter through a drop-down ceiling with easy access to two appliances. Making the job cost a whopping $75 afoot! At this point, I got involved as it was clear they were taking advantage of her given the time of year (New Years) and the cold temperature. Having worked in construction for many years, I asked Bryce why this relatively simple job was going to cost so much. After some back and forth he became defensive and hung up on me. I advised my mother-in-law to pay for the work they had done and never talk to this company again. She made an appointment with another more reputable company and they quoted her $980 ($20 an ft) to do the same work! Now tell me where the $2800+ difference comes in besides this company seeking to take advantage of women in a bad situation. It is practices like this that give this industry a bad name and I would be ashamed to be associated with this company in any way. Always get second opinions on work and watch out for companies like this they prey on peoples trust. UPDATE: Was contacted by the company manager, they apologized for what happened and stated that the above tech had been let go due to past transgressions of a similar nature. Additionally they waived the service fee she had been charged for that techs works. I appreciate the manager taking the time to try and make this right and reaching out to her. "Overall OK. However, after they left I noticed the gas pipe was changed a little. The original gas piping to the water heater was rigidly supported with a sediment trap (dirt leg) at the water heater. The new piping to the water heater was changed to flexible gas piping, not supported and does not have a sediment trap or dirt leg, which I thought was required by code.

"Didn't take any time to fix the leak and he explained what to do if it should happen again.  The toilet, of course, didn't make the noise while he was there.  But, he also explained a few things it could be and put our mind at ease that the pipes were probably alright.  Also, suggested not to put too much money into fixing it because we would be money ahead to replace the whole toilet.  I appreciate his honesty and his knowledge.

"Water heater blew a big leak on Friday night, and Atwell was out on Saturday at 9am to replace it. All work was very neatly done and it was completed in less than 2 hours. The only issue was that I wanted a bit more support on the expansion tank, so I strapped that up myself. They were one of three well-rated local plumbers that I called for a quote, so I know that Atwell's price was competitive and fair. I will call them first for future jobs."

"The only problem, and it was small, tiny problem. They was 15 minutes late to the appointed time to start. But that was due to the mis-spelling of the street name on the paperwork. The young men apologized and thanked me for my service in the military. I had my Navy Veteran hat on. They both shook my hand... That is always nice to hear and to appreciate. After showing the young men where the unit was. They helped me move the portable dog fence,so they had enough room to work and entrance to the furnace ( heat exchanger). They worked until about 12:30 and let me know that they needed more acetylene to continue to connect the new piping. And they would "grab something to eat" and would be right back. They was back within 30-40 minutes. That was fast to get everything and be back on the job. Normally I would think at least an hour to do all that. EXCELLENT!!! They continued for another 90 minutes or so. They then shown and explain all the work that was done. Showed all the new electical connections and piping. Making sure that I understand what to look for any leaks from the heat exchanger piping. After I was satisfied with work, equipment then they gave me the paperwork for the payment. By the time I wrote out the check they had the old unit, old exchanger loaded in their truck. They swept the area of the furnace. And they reposition the dog fence in the original spot. "Now how long does it take to write out a check?" They had everything done and running. Top Shelf Comfort heating-air conditioning -geothermal done an outstanding job.
