"Moore Designs was so professional throughout the entire process. From the initial design process to completing the work in a short span of time. The results were amazing, we love our patio and the stone work is website worthy! We've had several family members and neighbors ask who we used and they will be reaching out for quotes themselves. We can't wait to build our deck and wall and complete the backyard with Moore Design!"

"JP Landscaping wowed me from the minute they started work until the time they finished. I have truly never worked with a better contractor and crew than this group. We hired them to help correct a drainage issue on the side of our back yard that was allowing water flow toward our home during strong storms. Jose met with us and determined a plan to add a wall to hold the water and push toward the drainage system they added so that water would flow to the road and not toward our house. It turned out to be beautiful and functional! He has the hardest working and most professional crew!"

"East Coast Landscape Design did an amazing job when part of my retaining wall fell after a storm! They came right out to assess the damage and they were able to have their crew out there the following week. The communication with the company was exceptional too and the wall looks beautiful and it is safe!"

"The provider arrived on time.  I was only interested in a partial remodel -- that it, the addition of some cabinets to my kitchen.  He quickly drew up an estimate (which was quite a bit higher than a similar job done by Home Depot several years ago).  Frankly, I began to wonder why I had paid someone to give me an estimate.  Oh well.  Maybe if you're having a major reconstruction job it would be worth it."

"I normally prefer to do my own yardwork, but the yard got out of control this summer, so we hired Looking Sharpe Landscapes to clean everything up.  The estimate provided was accurate, and we were even given a discount for the (very small) amount of time they went over.  I'll definitely be using them again!

"From the moment they came out to look at our yard, they were extremely professional. The owner is a very talented young man who comes up with some great ideas (like our fountain wall)! The job was performed in a professional manner and in a timely fashion. The crew was great! I cannot say enough goods things about this Company! And, I will definitely use them again for any future projects.

"Excellent. Mr. Meneses and his brother were very courteous and efficient, and the work was done quickly. Mr. Meneses ensured that the bricks and mortar matched the other parts of the walls exactly, including the width of the mortar. He ensured that the drain was protected so that no debris went down that might result in a clog. He and his brother cleaned up everything before they left. I would definitely hire J. Stone Design again."

"We had always imagined building a screened porch off the south side of our house  for when the mosquitoes get bad in Arlington - basically after about June 1 - and last fall my wife saw an ad for a free estimate, so we invited Deckorators over to give us the pitch. Jon Parsons came over and sketched out how it would look and gave us what we thought was a pretty reasonable price based on the fact that they wanted to get better established in Arlington and to keep the flow of work going through a slow part of the season.
The project started slowly. The initial planning took place in October with the understanding that they would commence work in November. The DC area weather wasn't having any of it, however, and they got very backed up into the holidays. Communication might have been a little better about what the plan was, but we weren't really losing any time on our new porch between Thanksgiving and the end of the year. So we were good to sit tight.
Two carpenters showed up in mid-January and started digging the footings for the porch.  The project took about 7 weeks, but as anyone living around here knows, this was not a great winter to be working outside and they lost a bunch of days to rain, slow, sleet, freezing rain, and just plain brutal cold.
The carpenter in charge of the project was very talented.  I've done enough building to know when someone is making sure they get it right. Ronald was that guy. They were efficient but not hurried and put in days as long as the weather would permit. They appeared to be assigned solely to our project.  Even the Arlington building inspector complimented their work.
We are kind of ecstatic about both the porch and deck.  I'm sitting out here as I write this. We got an excellent product at a value price. We're talking about the next project and how we generate the cash for it. Based on this experience, we would be very excited to deal with Jon and his crew again.

UPDATE: Alas, it was a little too good to be true. They left something unresolved that is as much annoying as anything else. In order to get the deck in, they had to move the outdoor faucet around the corner of the house. I discussed with the crew chief, and he said they would put a trap door in the flooring to allow access. Well, either they forgot about it entirely or blew it off. There is a faucet there but I cannot get to it, so we have no outdoor water. I brought it to Jon Parsons's attention just about the time I was writing this review and he said he would "get right on it" and would perhaps extend the faucet to the edge of the porch. I should have held the review until it was done because once the review ran, Jon lost all interest in resolving the issue. I contacted him by email twice more with no resulting action. The fact that I'm about to pay for this myself just p***** me off because it was something on which we had a clear verbal agreement. That Deckorators decided was no longer important to them once they got their positive review speaks badly for their character and integrity."

"Although we have not moved forward yet to build our screened-in porch, James and his team at DesignBuilders will be the contractor I select when we do.  (Due to an unexpected health concern with a family member, we had to put our plans on hold.)   We want to add a 14? by 16? screened enclosure to our existing deck which is extremely high off of the ground.   While the other two contractors complained about this (one even charged extra for it) James was confident that he could build exactly what I wanted no matter what obstacles our location would present.
I interviewed three contractors for our project.   Their proposals all fell within $2000 of each other.  Yet James was by far the most professional and knowledgeable of the group.  The other two contractors merely pencil-drew their vision of the porch while James and his team provided a computer-aided design (cad cam) of the proposed porch.  When I called to set up the initial appointment, James asked me to first send him a few pictures of my project area, a site survey (plat), and a brief description of what my project entails.
Jodie, his designer (who is amazing and very personable!) then used this information to set up an online meeting.  For those of you who have never experienced an online meeting, don?t let it intimidate you ? Jodie is so helpful; she will walk you right through it.  Jodie builds a sample design for your project so you can give instant feedback and make necessary design changes right on the spot.  The online meeting is a starting point.  Next is the site visit by James and his team, who, because of the preliminary online meeting, arrive with a good working knowledge of your project.   Unlike your average contractor, James is ahead of the game and can provide you with much more detail about what you can expect when the project is completed.
Because my roof lines were so complicated, Jodie came to my home to make sure she had all of the information she needed.  Just like James, Jodie is very professional and very easy to talk to.  She immediately put me at ease.  The cad cam designs she prepared gave me a clear picture of the different roof options (gable, shed, flat, etc.).  They also showed how the porch would attach to my house from several points of view.  This gave me a very detailed picture of what the finished project would look like.  All contractors should offer this approach!  It allows you to tweak and modify the design to your exact specifications.
Next Jodie, James and Edward (another awesome DesignBuilder team member) came to my house and spent more than an hour suggesting a variety of options and some alternative approaches for me to consider - some I would never have thought of. They came up with some excellent solutions to the problems associated with our complicated roofline issue.  We settled on a design that met all of my needs while keeping the project within my budget.
When James sent me his proposal, I felt very confident that he included pricing for every stage of the project, with no hidden fees or surprises.  James and his team prepared two design options, each with detailed pricing and a cad cam picture of how the finished product would look.  I loved both options, so I have the flexibility to pick the one that best fits my needs when I?m ready to start the project.
James has several videos on YouTube (search ?James Moylan builder?) and at his website http://www.designbuildersmd.com  that show his building process from beginning to end.  These videos will clear up any doubts you might have about the quality of his work or his experience in the field.   His is extremely knowledgeable, his team offers the level of professionalism and comfortable communication that is very hard to find among builders and remodelers, and every person I?ve talked with DesignBuilders has shown a genuine interest in my building project.
Without a doubt, when we are ready to move forward with our project, DesignBuilders will be the contractor we hire!
(Note:  This review was written by an actual homeowner in Columbia, MD.  I am not connected financially in any way with DesignBuilders.  In fact, I first became aware of Design Builders by searching Angie's List myself!  I am a homeowner who believes it is important to recognize and document great service by a contractor and share it with the Angie's List community.  In this way, we all benefit.  Good luck with your project!)

FAQs for outdoor kitchen building service projects in Nokesville, VA

Building your own pizza oven can be a cost-effective option if you already possess the necessary firebricks or materials and have the skills to complete the project. When you have the required supplies on hand, you save on material costs and labor fees. However, if you need to source every component, a pre-made kit may not deliver the same savings.

Fire bricks are engineered to withstand the high temperatures generated inside a pizza oven, protecting the structure from cracking or spalling. Standard bricks can fail under intense heat, potentially damaging the oven and creating safety risks. By using true fire-rated bricks, homeowners maintain consistent cooking temperatures, preserve the oven’s structural integrity, and reduce the likelihood of costly repairs. The modest increase in material cost is offset by longer service life and safer operation.

An optimal pizza oven installation positions the opening exactly between 36 and 48 inches above the ground to guarantee clear visibility and safe, comfortable access. This height optimizes heat distribution and ergonomic use. In addition, dome height can vary: shorter domes produce the signature soft, charred crust of Neapolitan pies, whereas taller domes are ideal for generating the robust baking environment required for New York–style pizzas.
