"Got a service call deal for $34 and had them scheduled to come out and give an estimate to have a gas line extended to our laundry room for the dryer. The estimate ended up being much higher than we anticipated and we wanted to get a second estimate. We also asked if he could hook up our washer water supply, and he was unable to do so and recommended we re-run the pipes and valves as they were too old. We had another plumber coming out the next day from a previous work order, and asked for the estimate - it was half the price of Hope's, and he was able to attach the water connections with no problem. Felt like Hope plumber was just trying to invent work to get paid for."

"The toilet in my guest bath had been leaking; it appeared to me to be coming from the seal where the toilet is attached to the floor. I called Pipe Dream at 9 am and was told they could be there that same day, before noon. They were there within an hour, calling first to let me know they were on their way. Jeff and Russ quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty (loose? broken?) bolt where the tank is attached to the bowl. They repaired that and were finished within 30 minutes. <br /> Both men were very clean, polite and professional. This is a small business (they are the owners) and they are customer-service focused. I would use them again. <br />"

"We detected an odor of natural gas when we last used our gas-log fireplace last winter, 2012.  We had a visual inspection by a plumber, who noted our key valve was loose.  He surmised this was the source of the leak. <br /> We then called our regular go-to plumber for assessment and repair.   Although he was able to also smell gas when the key was turned, he was unable to locate the source and wasn't able to repair.   We were referred to Darren at Indy Gas Works by a chimney sweep.   After several rescheduled appointments due to unforeseen emergencies on both sides, Darren was finally able to schedule the repair.   Not only did he locate the fireplace key valve leak (under the floor, in the crawlspace), but he inspected, tested and repaired numerous other leaks throughout our basement and first floor.   There were leaks near and in our furnace and in several  areas along the gas line under our cook top.   <br /> In addition to the repairs of the gas lines and connectors, Darren also inspected an in ground gas grill, probably circa 1971.  He declared it in good shape with the exception of the 2 food racks on top. After so many years, they are too rusty.   We will replace those ourselves. <br /> We can now safely use our fireplace again.   I'm relieved to know that leaks under my cook top are now gone! <br /> Darren was efficient and professional. He is a very pleasant businessman who knows his area of expertise. He quickly found leaks that had been overlooked by 2 previous plumbing experts!   I will not name names as I will continue to do business with these other two companies.  I wholeheartedly recommend INDY GAS WORKS for gas installation and repair work. <br /> . <br />"

"Nick gave me a very detailed line item quote and even gave me the option to do some of the manual labor myself. Nick and his team showed up promptly on the day work was scheduled and had everything knocked out in a few hours. They removed a cracked section of clay pipe and tied into it with PVC. I got the exact same job quoted by another company for $3K. After the clean out was replaced they snaked the sewer line. While one tech was cutting the clay pipe, Nick was replacing the drip leg on the water heater. Nick was very thorough in making sure there was not a gas leak after his work. I will be calling Quality Control for all my plumbing, heating, and air needs."

"Eric Geyer is a very competent, nice and efficient plumber. He is a one man show. He is not the cheapest out there but you will always get excellent work at a reasonable price worry-free. Eric ended up having to cut-out the old cast-iron waste pipe and replacing with PVC. He arrived on time at 9:00 and originally quoted $450, spent a little while getting materials, and got the job done before 2:00. The final price was $550 but the job gone done in an efficient manner and I am extremely happy with the work. ---I hired Eric a few years ago when he re-piped my basement gas lines due to a few gas leaks. He also did an excellent job under those circumstances and that is why I went with him this time too."

"I am being fair with my rating, but I wouldn?t use them again. I had some dealing with them in the past and I called them by accident this time. It was kind of okay. The guy who did the work, he was snarky and smart alecky and that?s why I gave a ?B? on professionalism. I would have done a ?C?, but I am trying to be fair and not get personal and all of that.  <br /> <br /> When I discovered they were in Carmel, I was not surprised by that guy?s attitude, but he may not live there. He did get the work done and it?s working properly, but he was very smart alecky from the beginning. It was difficult for him to get the task done and he complained about that. The other thing that I did not discover until a week was that he left a mess. From the pipe that he cut, he just threw them on the floor in my basement and left them. I don?t really like complaining about people. "

FAQs for gas piping projects in Paragon, IN

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
