Customers say: Quality work

"Thomas was amazing! There are seriously not enough people left in this world quite like Thomas. He was always punctual at getting back to me and his arrival time to do the quote and for the day of service. He really has passion for what he does and it shows. I was so scared about hiring someone for our wallpaper hanging as previous vendor for other jobs turned out to be a nightmare. Especially since our wallpaper was $400 a roll. Thomas was so delicate with coverings and it looks showstopper. Like I keep just going in the hallway and admiring his great talent and work. I would recommend him over an over again. I plan to hire him back after the first of the year when we do wallpaper in our formal dining. <br />"

"Andy did a fantastic job on our wallpaper project. We had existing wallpaper in our guest room that needed to be removed and a new wallpaper to install. Andy was lovely to work with and was not only meticulous, but incredibly fast! I highly recommend his services."

"Metzger helped us figure out what needed to be repainted for the exterior of our house and what did not. There was never any "hard sell." We changed our minds a couple of times, so they had to come back for re-estimates, but they never complained about that or put pressure on us. After we accepted their bid, they showed up on time, worked efficiently, and always left the work area clean. The end result looks great!"

"Copper Valley Painting (owner - Hugh Ford) had his crew make extensive stucco repairs to our house and fences. After allowing one month for the stucco to cure they came back and painted everything. The quality of the stucco repairs and the painting was 5 Star all the way. Hugh in my opinion has what we called in the service a "can do" attitude. All of my requests were met with a smile and immediate action. I could not ask for more. His prices are fair, the quality of the work is excellent and he uses top quality paint products. His crew was on time each day and did not miss any days. It took 4 days to complete the stucco repairs. We have a 14,000 square foot lot and it has block fencing with stucco completely surrounding the property front and back. They repaired or completely did over approximately 30% of the fence surface. I have an RV gate that was painted previously by a handyman and he did not prep properly before painting. I was about to give up on that old paint blistered gate and replace the wood slats. Hugh's crew got that old gate looking nearly new and painted it with Dunn Edwards Aristoshield. The house and fences were painted with Dunn Edwards Ultra-Premium Exterior Evershield. Hugh referred my wife and I to the color advisor at Dunn Edwards and they provided a free service. They assisted in making our color selections and even did a rendering from our photos showing our new color choices. Our house is 3500 square feet single story with 50% flat roof and 50% pitched roof with gables on both ends. The gables were painted the house colors. The total cost of the stucco repairs and painting was $7,000. Considering the size of the project, the quality preparation, quality stucco repair, quality painting and professionalism of Hugh and his crew I think the price was very fair. I will use Copper Valley Painting again. In fact I will be having Hugh paint my daughter's house later this Fall."

"I’ve owned 3 homes over my time spent in Tucson. John has painted all 3 (interior and/or exterior). John was kept his word on start dates and completion dates. Cost for work performed was priced fairly. Quality of work was outstanding and well noted by guests in our home."

FAQs for wallcovering or wallpaper removal projects in Phoenix, AZ

You can determine your wall type through tactile and visual tests. Start by checking the surface by inserting a thumbtack, feeling the texture, tapping to listen for a hollow sound, and examining cut edges under outlet covers. Drywall feels soft with a hollow sound, while plaster is hard and solid. These checks are especially useful in older homes where plaster is more common.

After removing wallpaper, you can dispose of small amounts in your household trash. However, if you are removing wallpaper from your entire home, you’ll need to contact a waste removal service, rent a dumpster, or arrange a special pick-up with your municipality’s waste service. Wallpaper cannot be recycled, so it is important to keep it separate from the recycling stream to comply with local waste guidelines.

It takes a professional from several hours up to a full day to remove wallpaper from a single room. The removal duration depends on the type of adhesive, the age of the wallpaper, the condition of the wall, and the number of layers present. High ceilings and additional layers increase the time required, as extra care is taken to protect the wall surface while ensuring a complete removal.

Using fabric softener with water is an option for removing wallpaper, but its effectiveness is limited and depends on the type of wallpaper being used. This low-cost method is most effective on modern, less porous wallpaper and may not yield optimal results on vintage or textured varieties. It might also affect wall surface preparation for new coverings if the residue is not completely removed. For stubborn adhesive or textured surfaces, professional solutions are recommended to ensure a thorough removal without damaging the underlying wall.
