"This was a tub to shower remodel. The salesman, Greg, was very nice and helpful. He wasnâ t pushy at all and didnâ t try to sell us things we didnâ t need or want. The installers (Sam M, Jujuan A, and Bob) were great, friendly, courteous, and hardworking and did a fantastic job! We would definitely recommend this company and will use them again if the need arises!"

"Brian came to our home to do a tub to shower installation. He was very respectful and reviewed what he would be doing. The project was completed within the time frame we were told. Again, he reviewed what he had done and how to properly care for the shower. It really looks great and we are looking forward to using it. Thank you Brian and rite window team. Respectfully Leslie Greeley Brewster Ma"

"Bob and his assistant came promptly as scheduled. Calling before to confirm. They were right on time considering the long distance they had to get here. They completed the job in the amount of time described and left us with a beautiful new surface on our tub. Afterwards, we had some difficulties with our drain, and gave Bob another call. He scheduled a time to come all the way back to our house to straighten out the request. He also gave us a little touch up paint. We had used some super-gentle, yellow, painting masking tape to make a nice edge on our culking, and we pulled a bit of paint off. The directions he leaves with you won't specifically say not to use the tape, but it should have been obvious not to do it. If you can't use suction cups, we probably should have realized not to use masking tape either. But the touch up paint made it perfect again. The only negative thing that could possible be said (and this has nothing to due with Bob or the company) is that the process won't make your tub perfectly smooth again if it is severely pitted. We had pits in the surface, and this covering smooths them out, but they are still going to be there as a bit of texture. It's been seven months and we are still happy with our new tub. Following his directions for cleaning and maintenance have kept the tub looking great. Thanks, Bob!"

"When I bought the house, the bathroom had hideous pink/peach tiles. When I called about getting it refinished it a simple white, she told me if I didn't have the tub done too, I'd regret it because they would be two different colors. So I took her advice and had both done white. The man who came out to perform the service was punctual, professional, friendly - couldn't have gone better.
Fast forward a few months, the bathtub is peeling. It took me 2 weeks to get ahold of someone to send the repairman out. But the service man came out, again, no problems at all, quick to the point, fixed it and left.
Now, another few months later and the same thing... the tub is peeling again. I, again, am trying to get ahold of them to come out and repair. They have an automated answering service but no one returns my calls. I am on day 4 of trying to get ahold of someone to come out and fix the tub again. The job was done April of 2014, it is Feb 2015 and this is my 2nd repair job needed. I live alone so the tub is not getting alot of overusage, no kids doing anything crazy... so I'm not sure I would do it again. It's becoming a pain to deal with and to be honest, I'm not 100% sure I would use this company again. The service men doing the work are great, but to get in contact with anyone is not an easy feat.

"After leaving a message, Rick Nitkiewicz, the owner, promptly called back the same day and left me a message. I called Rick back and we discussed the job. He stated that he was busy as usual, and even though the weather was getting colder and was starting to narrow down his exterior painting opportunities, he thought that he would be able to fit us into his schedule. Rick asked if it would be OK if he went out to our home to estimate the job the following week. I could not get away to meet him during work hours, so I told him that would be great if he could do that. Exactly as promised, Rick went to the house on Thursday and that same day he left me a voicemail. The first thing Rick stated in his voicemail was to let me know he saw some birds going in one of my vents, and it was his priority to let me know that, even before he spoke about the job. He then told me he had emailed me a written quotation and that he may even be able to start the job at the end of the week. He also was very perceptive in that he noticed the mold and stated that he would need to use some special non-bleach mold killer on the black marks for the job to be prepared properly. I reviewed the quotation, and it was very reasonable. I called Rick back and gave him the go ahead. He said that one of his employees would be calling me as soon as they scheduled the job. By the end of the day I received a call from Mike. Mike stated that they had a customer change their schedule, and that he could start the job as early as the next day if we were prepared. I called Mike and told him that tomorrow was acceptable, and that I would meet him at the house at 7:30AM the next morning. Sure enough, Mike was there the next morning, and was even there early, well before I got there. We went over the details. Mike was extremely professional, had a fantastic attitude and had high morning energy, which was a refreshing experience. Before I left I started to notice that our garage door was starting to look bad too, and since we were intending to sell this home soon, I asked Mike if there was any chance he could add that onto his list and he said yes, he could do it. My wife also noticed that the high peak on the side was starting to degrade as well and knew it would only be a matter of time before the community association would ask us to paint that as well. We asked Mike if he could do that too and he said he was not prepared for that, and did not have the required 40ft ladder with him, but he could do it in the next day or two. I left for work and Mike went at it. I inspected the soffit and garage door portions after work that day. The job was done perfectly, and there was no evidence he was even there. When they were calling for rain the next day or two, Mike called me to let me know that he would need to delay a day or two to come back and repaint the high side peak. As promised, as soon as the weather forecast was looking better, he called and told me when he thought he would be there to do the peak and he came back on that day to complete it without any prodding on our part.
The bottom line is, Rick and Mike at Ultimate Custom Painting are some of the most professional people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. They do quality preparation and paint work. When they say they will call back, they call back. When they say they will go out to look at the job on Thursday, they look at the job on Thursday. When they say they will email a quote by the end of the day, they email a quote by the end of the day. When they say they will be there on a certain day and time, they are there, and early. When you ask them to do something unplanned, they accommodate to the best of their ability without complaint. When they say they will come back in a few days, they actually come back with no calling or prodding or wondering required.
To summarize, my wife and I can only provide glowing recommendations for this company and its employees, and we can guarantee that we will use them again in the future if the opportunity presents itself.

FAQs for bathtub liner or shower surround installation and replacement projects in Pittsburgh, PA

A bathtub liner is a custom, one-piece shell that slips over your existing tub to hide cracks, stains, and chips. Most are molded from tough acrylic or PVC and can include a matching wall surround for a complete facelift. When a pro bonds the liner in place, you get a watertight seal, a fresh look, and an added layer of safety—all without tearing out the old tub.

After a tech measures your tub and orders a made-to-fit shell, installation takes a day. The installer cleans the surface, applies industrial-grade adhesive, and positions the liner in place. They trim the edges, tighten the drain, and run a smooth bead of silicone caulk to lock out moisture. A quick plumbing check wraps things up, leaving you with a ready-to-use tub by the next morning.

You can pick preset sizes or order a liner molded to your tub’s exact shape, then choose from dozens of colors, patterns, and finishes to match—or refresh—your bathroom. A pro trims and fits the shell on-site, so every contour lines up and accessories like grab bars or shelving land exactly where you want them.

If the liner’s material accepts a fresh coating, a professional can sand it, apply epoxy, and restore the shine in six hours for $480. Swapping in a brand-new liner runs $800 to $1,000 and takes a day or less. Refinishing is the wallet-friendly route when the shell is structurally sound, but it won’t last as long as starting over with new acrylic.

Most liners last three to five years. High-quality acrylic, a snug professional fit, and routine cleaning help you reach the upper end of that range. If moisture seeps behind the shell, mold and odors can shorten its life, so keep an eye out for loose caulk or soft spots and call a professional if you spot trouble early.
