"Art did a wonderful job for us replacing natural gas water heater. He is very professional and reasonably priced. Other than hiring him, I didn’t had to do anything and the job is well done. Highly recommended."

"I have been working with Colonial Plumbing and heating for over a year; both personal and professional capacity. I have dealt with many difference administrative and technical staff. Each person has always been helpful, courteous and professional. They arrive on time, if not earlier, and provide accurate written estimates. The technicians are knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely professional. I really appreciate this company and all of their staff. It doesn't matter if its a small job like lighting a gas fire place or a large job-installing gas lines or repairing units, they are always professional, courteous and within the estimate."

"My home was built in 1952 on a slab foundation with copper water supply lines buried in the slab.  The copper pipe began developing pinhole leaks in December 2015 (concrete and copper don't play nice together).  Last December, I had another plumber bust open the slab to repair a cold water leak and a few weeks later another pin hole leak sprung on the hot water line. Given the age of the copper, I made the decision to replace the plumbing throughout the house.  After soliciting bids from several local plumbers, I decided to go with Joe P Clark based on their positive reviews, the competitiveness of the price quoted, and their professionalism throughout the bid process.  I'm so glad I did.  From start to finish, Joe P Clark was just outstanding.  It took approximately 5 days to repipe the house, but they worked very hard to get the job done right the first time.  I was very impressed with the quality of their work, their constant communication as the job progressed, and how they cleaned up each day.  I highly recommend Joe P Clark. <br />"

"When the water drained out of the washer hose into the pipe in the wall, it came out so fast that some of the water sprayed out onto the floor. Another plumber work on it a few months ago and he cleaned out the pipe and put heavy duty Drano in it. It was better for a few months and then started doing it again. When Wade came over I described the problem and he knew exactly how to fix it without any hesitation. He had solved this problem before in houses which were built in the 1960s. The cast iron drain pipe under the house over time becomes corroded so the passage way becomes very small. He explained everything and wrote a detailed estimate which was reasonable for the work. He replaced the drainage pipe with PVC pipe and fittings. While he was there I had him fix a running toilet and a blockage in my gas logs. So the $720 price includes replacing the main pipe under the house, fixing the toilet and the gas logs. He came two times. Always on time, courteous, neat. I'm very satisfied."

"I called during the "Great Freeze of Richmond" in a panic after our pipes froze! This was in early January and my review is long overdue. They were so courteous and prompt, and ended up being more affordable than I imagined. Peace of mind is a beautiful thing that these hard-working guys truly provide. I genuinely cannot express my gratitude!"

"Harry was able to look at my plumbing issue same day and actually ended up fixing the problem himself, including replacing about a 4' section of drain pipe in an interior wall same day within about 2 hours! The cost was very conservative and he could have charged me a much higher flat rate (we had discussed this prior) but he didn't. Honesty, promptness, professionalism and low cost... What more could you ask for?! Thank you, Harry! <br />"

"Had a slow running sink and decided to take off the trap to see what was causing the problem. When I attempted to loosen the pipe a chrome pipe broke in my hand. Called Mr Rooter at 10am. Call answered on the first ring. I was advised that someone would be out between 3 and 5. They showed up at 2pm. Looked at the problem and gave me a firm quote. Job finished in about an hour and they honored the 15% off Angies list coupon. Very satisfied with the response and service. <br />"

FAQs for gas piping projects in Prince George, VA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
