"Randy Gardner responded immediately to my request for a visit and estimate. He looked inside and outside, and told me I did not need to go to the expense of the drain tile and waterproofing. He said the house (build in 1917) had settled, and that the sidewalk along the side of the house was sinking toward the house, resulting in the water in the basement. He recommended removing the existing sidewalk, and laying new concrete with the proper slope away from the house. Although it was not a cheap fix, it was half of what I feared it would cost. Scott walked through options and provided honest recommendations for the garage floor and foundation repair that was needed. "I had a small amount of water/moisture intruding into the basement from where the wall met the floor along the North side of my basement. I called and set up an estimate with All-Star Basements after reading other reviews/quotes on Angie's list. The inspector, Rob, arrived and looked at the basement. He was courteous, professional, and answered all my questions. He gave me a very competitive quote for laying a drain tile system from the inside. The work consists of tearing up the concrete (2' width) along the inside basement walls and laying rock and drain hose leading to an inside sump pump then pouring new concrete over the excavated area. My area of concern was the North and North-East corner of the house. Rob bid $2000 to install a system that covers 2' of the West wall, the entire North wall, and 6' of the East wall and a sump pump. A 30' length job in total for $2,000.
The day of the project I received a call that the workers would start about two hours late because they had to clean out the work trailer after heavy rains soaked their gear. When the workers arrived they made sure to place floor coverings and plastic in areas to prevent dust intrusion into the rest of the house. They then jackhammered, excavated, and installed the system. It took about 7 hrs. The workers were polite, efficient, and very hard working. I was impressed. They poured the concrete and afterwards they invited me to inspect their work. They did a very good job leveling the concrete. Last they asked me where I wanted the outside sump pump drain hose placed. I wanted it to go towards the back of the house. They placed it in an area where it would be completely hidden from view (along the house behind plants and into shrubs along the fence).
After a few days of heavy rain the system was collecting water and pumping it out. I was surprised because I didn't expect to see the system at work until spring. The pump is VERY quiet, basically undetectable. I'm very satisfied with All Star Basements.

"Mr. Samuel Sharpe showed up on time and performed all the tasks that I asked him to do. I contacted about 6 or 7 Contractors for this project. Only three showed up to give me a estimate,the other 4 never called me back. In this age of instant communication, I feel that sometimes customer service is a thing of the past.Of course, I remember going to the gas station and a attendant would fill your gas tank,check your oil and wash your windows.Ah,the good old days! Samuel Sharpe reminds me of those days gone by. He will go out of his way to accommodate you. I added on about 5 extra things on my original bid and he performed these tasks flawlessly.Samuel is a easy going person who keeps you informed how each and every project is going .I feel that his workmanship,professionalism,and attention to detail is superb.I feel that for everything that Sam did and the total cost that I was charged,it was a very good investment for my house. I would like to give Sam a 10 and a A+ for a job done extremely well done. "Greene Construction dug out large hole for egress window, used very competent subcontractor to cut the window opening with Greene Construction installing the window frame and window, put in a galvanized window well w/ladder per local building code regulations and hauled away the dirt.  I was very impressed with the professionalism of the Greene Construction crew, including company owner Damian, who said he prefers to work on the job sites over being in the office.  I also thought they went over and above the job requirements by helping me with some yard clean-up.  I had a pile of concrete scraps extracted from basement as part of my basement project.  I had asked Damian if he could dispose of them for me.  Not only did he say "yes", Damian and his crew helped me scoop up the concrete scraps and load then in his truck.
As for pricing, I had obtained approximately 5 bids and Greene Construction was right in the middle.  Based on the job completed, I would rate it a good value.  Ben was my initial contact at Greene Construction, he contacted me the day after my Angie's list inquiry and we scheduled the work after our meeting. 
In addition, I have another contractor working in my basement on the project, who also gave Greene Construction kudos for a job well done!
