"Exceptional work! We had 3 pieces repaired and Rick completed it in the time he quoted. He did a great job, especially on an heirloom piece which was built in 1976 for the USA's bicentennial. I highly recommend him for any furniture restoration work."

Customers say: Quick response

"Vinnie is very kind and professional. Anytime I needed to reach him with a question or to make arrangements he responded immediately. He did an excellent job painting the cabinets at a competitive price. My contractor was so impressed with his work he plans to use his services in the future. I highly recommend R&W!"

"I called Abe to repair two dressers that had been broken and/or marred during a move. He was very prompt and came to my house the next day and gave me a quote for the work, a time estimate and brought my furniture back to his shop. He called me to deliver the furniture within the time estimate (a few days early!) and delivered my furniture. He did a beautiful job and is an expert craftsman. I would use him again! <br />"

"We ? Dave and Lori! The furniture came out really looking great thanks to some suggestions Dave made. Lori stayed in excellent communication with us the whole time. Clearly Dave takes his work very seriously, he really wants it to look good. If you want someone who provides excellent work at a very reasonable price (especially compared to some of the other quotes we got) then this is your pick. One word of advice, if you have a strict timeline communicate with Dave and Lori when you contact them. They will let you know- we had some flexibility and couldn't be happier."

"It was absolutely fantastic. They are very calm, informative, and take their time with you. The repairs can take quite a while because they're busy.  However the repairs always look perfect, and the painting restoration was magnificent and brought out colors we didn't even know were there. They are expensive, but you entrust a great deal to them. I highly recommend them."

FAQs for furniture refinish projects in Providence, RI

A complete table refinishing project requires between four and eight days from start to finish. The actual hands-on work takes between two and 10 hours, with the remaining time dedicated to drying periods between applications. The stripping and sanding phases demand the most active labor, while applying finishes requires patience as each layer dries completely before proceeding.

Several elements influence dining table refinishing costs, with size being the primary factor. Larger tables or those with extensions require more materials and labor time. The wood type matters significantly—hardwoods may need specialized treatment compared to softer woods. The table's current condition also impacts pricing, as damaged surfaces need repairs before refinishing can begin.

Refinishing often proves more economical than purchasing a comparable quality replacement. Professional table refinishing costs between $150 and $400 on average, while preserving the original craftsmanship and character of your piece.

This approach makes particular sense for well-constructed wood furniture that would be expensive to replace with similar quality. For sentimental pieces or antiques, refinishing also maintains their history and personal value.

Professional furniture refinishers charge between $40 and $100 per hour for their services. This rate varies based on geographic location, the refinisher's experience level, and the complexity of the project. Some professionals offer project-based pricing rather than hourly rates, especially for standard-sized pieces like coffee tables or end tables. When requesting quotes, ask whether the estimate includes materials or represents labor costs only.

For tables with minor wear, you can sometimes refresh the appearance without complete stripping and sanding. Using gel stains and wipe-on finishes can address surface issues while preserving the existing finish underneath. This approach works best for tables with light cosmetic damage rather than those with deep scratches or damaged finishes. However, proper stripping and sanding remain necessary for comprehensive restoration or significant color changes for professional-quality results.
