"I purchased replacement window from their warehouse. Their salesman told me the windows had a 10 warranty on the windows. However, when one of the window had a crack on the inside of the window they refused to honor the sash replacement with out be paid a service charge to replace what is clearly a manufacturer defect. I purchased the window year ago clearly with the ten year warranty. I have installed windows for 35+ years would not recommend this company."

"My husband and I had a terrific experience with Philadelphia Soapstone and Marble. Luis, the new owner of the company, stood out from the competition as we shopped around, and not only were his prices the most reasonable, he and his employees were a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, and their expertise was immediately apparent. Anyone undertaking home renovations right now knows that supply chain issues, delays, and considerable cost increases are the norm, but not here. We got what we needed and it was fabricated and installed very quickly. Originally we contacted this company because we were looking for soapstone and it's a specialty material that's not widely available and not well understood. We ended up with a gorgeous slab, and the team was committed to delivering our enormous island in a single piece with no joints, which was no small feat given its size and the number of stairs it had to travel to be installed. Before we settled on our slab, we changed our mind several times about materials, and Luis was helpful in directing us to different slab yards with whom he partners so we could shop for alternative stones and communicated promptly with updated pricing as we shopped. We were honestly difficult and indecisive clients, but Luis was understanding, kind, and patient with us the entire time. I have already recommended this company to a few friends and will use them again without hesitation."

"I used this company for a number of years and the overall service is no longer the same. I had them over to clean my gutters and I witnessed ladders slamming against the side of my house and they tore one of the edges from the corner of my roof with their step ladder. I will not use them going forward."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Quakertown, PA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
