"We previously used AFS to encapsulate our utility garage/basement area and recently used them again to install 6 floor supports. Ovy Thompson, Clayton Cox, and Spirit Ettesvold were the team that came for this job. They were on time, explained everything and did an amazing job. We will definitely use AFS again if the need arises."

"Sean and his colleagues repaired/replaced three large culverts that had washed out from a logging road that was about 3/4 mile long. They regraded the road, removed and repaired or reinstalled three different culverts and were in and out on time, despite plenty of rain. They came in within budget and the communication between contractor and client was excellent. I trust this guy like few other contractors I have hired."

"As always, Michael and his team did an outstanding job! I needed several areas cleaned up, shrubs trimmed and pruned, and mulching in the backyard. Everything looks great. I had a tree that had come up due to the rain. They were able to remove that for me as well. Everything was done on time, professionally, and at a good cost. If you are looking for someone to help you with your yard needs, Micheal and the team at Addison are the ones to call!"

"Tony and crew are trustworthy, dependable and masters of their craft. My new floors are beautiful! Tony kept me informed every step of the way as this was practically a whole house install. There was an issue with the trucking company delivering my new flooring, but Tony totally handled it for me and even drove to Atlanta to pick up the wood when it appeared that the trucking company was not going to deliver in a timely fashion. I would definitely recommend 1st Class Flooring and would not think twice about hiring them again."

"dug a rain garden basin and buried drainage pipe from gutter emptying into rain garden. also installed paving stones around patio and rain garden. <br /> had an issue with rainwater dumping onto patio and flooding whenever a heavy rain occurred. Very happy with work, a lot was accomplished in a short period of time.  <br /> Also took out trees that were dead and trimmed trees out of lines, did a great job. Would recommend for most any tree or rain/gutter issue. THANKS Jon :) <br />"

"I got three estimates and ‘58 Foundation was by far the best. They explained all my options and worked within my budget. I needed foundation repair in specific areas under a load bearing wall and around my front door. They showed up on time. The foreman, Cam, kept me informed on the process. He along with the crewmen, Jordan and Keylin were courteous and professional and left the work area even cleaner than they found it. My house is over 100 yrs old and when I walk around now, the floors feel very solid."

"Basement Correctors saved the deal on a home purchase for me and my family. This house was sitting on an old 1700sqft basement that had the potential to be made into more living space. The only problem was previous water issues that the sellers had temporarily fixed with french drains. French drains will clog and fail eventually, so we had the Basement Correctors come and completely waterproof it. Now we can start the remodeling process without worries of water problems in the future!"

"Once managed to get plumbers to actually come out all went very well, the two plumbers were courteous and worked hard to repair & replace  the leaking pipes.  I had called the evening before and asked for a plumber and were told all were busy and they would call me the next morning.  No one called, so I called Battlefield Plumbing the next morning and were told by the gentleman who answered the phone that there was no way they could come out that day, all were busy.  When I asked to speak with the lady in the office whom I had talked with the day before was told she was not available.  As a result, I called another plumber in the city of Dalton, Ga (about 15 miles away) and made arrangements with him to come that afternoon.  Later, out of the blue, a plumber for Battlefield Plumbing called to say they were on their way.  As a result, I cancelled the call with the other company in Dalton, Ga.   <br /> The two men from Battlefield Plumbing arrived and made up for the previous frustrating contact with their company.  They immediately went to work to replace the leaking water pipes  and restore my home with water.  They also installed water cut offs on the hot and cold water pipes going into the water heater.   <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Rising Fawn, GA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
