"Rafael was great from our first consultation to the day the work was finished. He arrived early to check out the scope of the work, walked us through his recommendation, and delivered the estimate on time as promised. Rafael was thorough, detail-minded, and friendly. He and his team member were incredibly tidy and efficient, always arriving on time or even a little early to start work. Highly recommend. We are very pleased with the final product!"

"My wife and I contacted Dollman Construction in early October with a challenging request.  Basically, we needed to double the living space in our newly purchased home and to do it by the middle of December in time for her to move the contents of our home in Northern VA here and be settled in by the holidays.  A lot to ask we knew, and after meeting with several other contractors in the area that were not willing to attempt to bring us in within the time frame we laid out, we were very pleased not only with Dollman’s “can do” attitude, but also with their professionalism and honesty with respect to the project.  We wanted to finish our entire basement, including adding a full bathroom, great room, abundant storage space and an office/bedroom combination.  From the onset, we were pleased with the approach.  First we met with Jimmy Dollman the owner, and with his senior team to discuss every aspect of the job, there were several on-site meetings that included all of the sub-contractors that were going to be involved and then before we proceeded with anything, we were provided with detailed architectural drawings that covered every aspect of the job form the framing, plumbing and electrical to all of the side notes, the little things we wanted done that made this job unique.  Throughout the project, we met regularly with the project manager assigned to our job, discussed any issues as they would arise, continued to get estimates on the timeline for completion and we were always in the loop, never blind-sided by anything.   In addition, every contractor who worked on-site was respectful, treated our property with respect and were very clean, in fact the job site was left clean at the end of each day.  All in all, we could not be more pleased with the job Dollman did for us, the quality of the work is excellent, the job was completed on time as promised and there were no unresolved issues or surprises at all.  If you want your remodel done right – I would personally recommend Jimmy Dollman and his team of professionals, regardless of how small or large the job, your job is treated with the same attention to detail and the same priority."

"Ronnie Mitchell Jr. provided a design, a recommended paver, and an estimate for a walkway in front of our home.  Once we selected Mitchell he met us at the stone / paver company and provided excellent help in choosing an economical and quality paver that would go well with our home.   <br /> The work was done quickly and very professionally.  The crew was courteous and friendly.  They worked two days on the project and did an excellent job of installing pavers, some drainage pipes and drains, and mulch.  The crew cleaned up the work area very well at the end of each day. <br /> Overall we were very impressed with the work and the customer focus of Mitchell and Son.  I would highly recommend them to anyone needing hardscape designed and installed.  We also spoke to two of our neighbors who were also very pleased with the work of Ronnie Mitchell and Son. <br />"

"David and his son-in-law were always punctual, professional and a delight to have around our house for the 3-month project. Their attention to detail was truly phenomenal. Each rock was selected and carved to fit a particular spot and angle. Following the initial driveway and house entry steps, we had David come back 2 years later to build a side yard patio with fire pit and a connecting walkway from the driveway. We would certainly engage their services again and recommend them highly. <br>"

"Work was generally of high quality with some minor painting issues. Arthur Jackson did an excellent job of analyzing problems unique to the house and proposing and implementing effective solutions. Floor replacement and refinishing work was particularly well done."

"Incredible experience. This is the best kitchen I've ever owned, and I'm a senior citizen who spent 22 years enduring military moves. Dan Martin and crew tailored this kitchen exactly to what I wanted. In fact, there were more than just one or two suggestions Dan made about the design, for which I am most grateful. Two of these were eliminating non-load bearing walls, which opened a tiny galley kitchen up to include a island/breakfast bar. At my most recent family gathering, it was a breeze to feed 22 people. In the original kitchen, barely two people could fit (see photo with Charlie the Dog). Work was exceptional. Dan and crew were diligent, precise and willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything was done to their high standards. Dan also works with the homeowner to keep costs down, and kept the homeowner informed daily of progress and plans. His was the lowest bid. Since my kitchen completion, I recommended him to others, and they had similar results. Outstanding service, true professional. Several months after the kitchen renovation, I had a smaller project to repair/replace the basement ceiling. Again, the work was done professionally, and I was completely pleased. Great service, great price; experienced and hard-working crew - I didn't even bother to get several bids this time."

"The company listed to our needs, examined the basement thoroughly, described options, and provided a detailed proposal and estimate. When we engaged them they arrived promptly, worked full days, and took care to limit dust leakage to the rest of the house. They cleaned up each evening and worked steadily until the job was completed. They always communicated to us clearly about the progress of the job and were unfailingly polite and professional. The cost was very accurate to the estimate. We are completely satisfied and would hire them again. Highly recommended. <br />"

"They took a while to come out and do the work. First appointment was in December and no one showed or called. Second appointment for inspection was in January. Then they said they would come out to do the work and it took them another 3 weeks. In that time they were also looking for a new fireplace screen for us. Could not find what we needed so came out and sealed the chimney as requested. They came in and did the work and we felt did an honest job."

"<p>It was a good experience.  The contractor designed a system that saved lots of money over other estimates.  Everybody showed up on time, acted professionally, finished as estimated and without any cost overruns.  One year later, it's still working great and I would use them again for any residential building, remodeling or landscaping work.</p> <br />"

FAQs for brick or stone siding: install or completely replace projects in Rocky Mount, VA

Brick siding offers numerous advantages, including high durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, requiring minimal maintenance and lasting for generations. It provides natural insulation, enhancing energy efficiency by regulating indoor temperatures year-round. Brick is fire-resistant, improving home safety, and reduces external noise for a quieter indoor environment. Its timeless aesthetic appeal boosts curb appeal and can increase your home's resale value.

Yes, you can add brick to an existing house. One option is to remove the current siding and install full brick masonry, which involves laying traditional bricks with mortar for a solid brick exterior. Alternatively, you can opt for brick veneer siding, a thinner layer of real or manufactured brick applied over the existing structure. Brick veneer is typically more affordable and easier to install while still providing the aesthetic benefits of brick. Both methods can enhance your home's appearance and value.

Yes, installing brick siding often provides a significant return on investment. With an average ROI of around 77%, and some returns exceeding 80%, brick siding enhances curb appeal, energy efficiency, and longevity, making your home more attractive to potential buyers and potentially increasing resale value.

Brick siding is known for its exceptional longevity, often lasting over 100 years when properly maintained. Regular maintenance, like repointing mortar joints, ensures its durability over time. Brick veneer, while thinner than full brick masonry, is durable and can last up to 50 years or more with proper care. Both options offer long-lasting protection and value for your home.

When choosing brick siding, consider your budget, as costs can vary depending on brick type and installation method. Also, consider your desired aesthetic; different bricks offer various colors, textures, and styles to complement your home's architecture. Installation time and complexity are factors, with options like brick veneer being quicker and less labor-intensive than full brick masonry. Additionally, assess the maintenance requirements and durability to select the best option for your long-term needs.

Alternatives to brick siding include vinyl siding, which is cost-effective and low-maintenance and offers a variety of colors and styles. Wood siding provides a natural, classic look but requires more upkeep to prevent weather damage. Fiber cement siding is durable and can mimic the appearance of wood or masonry without the high maintenance. Each alternative has its own advantages, so consider factors like budget, aesthetics, and maintenance when making your choice.
