I also used John Krause for a repair to my shed from water damage again Daniel and his partner did an excellent job for me. Very please with Daniel and his work. I believe Daniel is a sub-contractor for John Krause, but none the less in my opinion he did really good work and communicated with every step of the way."

"This was definitely a 5 star operation from the initial discussions to the finishing touches! For a major renovation and upgrade to our master bathroom we reviewed potential contractors and their customer comments. VKB stood out. Our VKB designer Sean clearly has artistic talent and lots of design experience. He patiently worked with us, showing us 3D design options as we considered alternative configurations and materials. When we were satisfied with the design, Sean transitioned us smoothly to the build phase, introducing Jason as our project manager and Walter as our crew chief. Sean personally familiarized Jason with the project, inviting us to share our thoughts and any concerns. During the renovation, Walter and his crew would carefully isolate the MBR work from the rest of the house, sealing off the room and path to the front door with plastic barriers and floor coverings every morning and remove them every evening. Everyone was polite and sensitive to our living space. Jason was responsive to our wishes to refine several design aspects as the work proceeded, and Walter and his crew smoothly made the alterations. After the main construction was completed Jason remained very attentive to our ‘punch list’ of remaining details and our questions until all had been resolved. Walter ensured very high-quality work down to the finest detail. All the work from design to completion was well within the timeframe we had hoped. "Carl and his tremendous crew (Kenny, Marceio, Jay) re-did the exterior of our single family home: replaced old wood siding with new, 6-inch Mastick siding, replaced old cedar shingles with split/cedar shake siding, replaced all gutters, capped trim all around and repaired rotted spots. "Had to gut and renovate the bathroom in our daughter's Washington DC aparment after the shower wall had caused a leak into the neighbor's apartment. <br /> We interviewed several contractors found through Angie's list, and the one we were most interested in turned out not to be able to take the job but recommended Stowe's Contracting.  <br /> Although Gene's estimate was 50% higher than one of the others, he promised great quality work; we discussed in detail materials to be used in the walls etc.  <br /> As we live a 4 hour drive away from the DC apartment and had to supervise the reno from afar it was very important to us to be able to communicate on a daily basis on the plans, complications and progress, and Gene promised he'd do that. <br /> As in all my projects, I like to do the design myself and provide each and every item to be installed, so we had the tiles, shower basin, shower doors, shower panel, vanity, medicine cabinet, toilet, light fixture and towel racks all in place.  <br /> Gene and his worker Angel were both very good at really working according to the detailed work plans and drawings, which  was important given the tiny space we were working in! <br /> We were on the phone daily and received progress reports including pictures, and although no renovation ever goes without complications( through no fault of either side) , things went reasonably smoothly.  <br /> Wonderful attention to covering up furniture, covering the floor and cleaning up after each work day, and after the project was finished a professional home cleaner dusted and cleaned the whole apartment on Gene's initiative, which was great given my daughter's busy job. <br /> We're waiting for the final pictures. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Jim and his father "Bill" did an excellent job for us from start to finish!  Jim came to our  house to give us an estimate.  He arrived on time and was very thorough and clear in assessing our problem and explaining what needed to be done.  He was very responsive to all our questions and concerns.   He provided us a proposal and contract which set forth in detail the work they would do, the materials they would furnish, supervision involved, and particulars of payment.  We were very pleased with his total cost estimate.  Within a few days, his father came to do the work and he did an outstanding job!.  Like Jim, he arrived on time and set about his work.  He cleaned up when he finished, leaving no sign of the work that had been done.  To say that we were satisfied  with the service given us by Jim and his Dad, is an understatement.  They are "good guys" and professionals who do excellent work!  We hope to have them work on more projects for us.  And, yes, we are recommending them to family, friends, anyone who wants a great job done!   <br />"
