I went with Lanz on the water heater only because they were quick to respond and were able to install it 2 days after my request. The Lanz rep, Ken, was very professional. On installation day, he had a younger guy helping him who seemed to struggle quite a bit and scratched up some furniture while bringing the new water heater in. He also left a large pipe in the yard that I had to dispose of. I chose to go with the least expensive water heater and still paid $1439.21 with Lanz. Others were significantly lower in price, but definitely not as quick to respond or schedule."

"From the time I first spoke with them at the Home Show, held at U.S. Cellular Center, I was impressed with them.  I took their business card and told them I had been thinking of having this work done for a long time, and still had not decided.  My wife and I finally decided to have the generator installed.  I called Popejoy, and two other companies, asking for estimates.  Popejoy's salesman met with us at our home, asked lots of questions, took pictures, and gave a general idea of the costs involved.  He said he would take all the info and work up an estimate.  Within a week, as he promised, he called us with an estimate.  I told him I was getting more estimates and he said he understood that it was a big decision, and to call him with my decision.  I was really impressed with his knowledge, and his personality.  After speaking with the other companies sales people, and getting their quotes, we decided to give the work to Popejoy.  They sent a tech to do some preliminary work on our two AC units, installing "soft starts".  This did not take but about an hour.  He also was  very professional, polite, and friendly.  The day prior to doing the big job, a Popejoy rep called and asked if the next day would be agreeable to us for doing the installation.  We agreed, and he said they would be at our house at 8 a.m.  At 7:45 the next morning they were ringing our doorbell,  Two young men, brothers as it happens, were here to do the work.  I was totally impressed with their work ethic, their manners, and how efficiently they went about their work.  At 12:25 p.m., the job was done, and they were driving away.  I was so impressed from the first meeting with the salesman, to the installation of the generator, that I wrote a letter to the company owner, telling him so.  And I am not easily satisfied.  I have a reputation, good or bad, of being a perfectionist.  Popejoy delivered!"

When repairing the ceiling, the man doing the work was dissatisfied with his initial job and came back two days later to redo the job. I was glad to see such pride in his work, but again, they were billing hourly and the job ended up costing just under double the initial estimate. I understand that estimates are just that, but all in all they were a little more expensive than I anticipated and were very casual. <br />"
