"Jalen, Reggie, and DeShawn from FSM were incredibly professional and courteous. They worked fast and did fantastic work in our basement. They answered all of our questions, made sure we understood how to operate the systems they installed, and gave us a thorough tour of the work once they were finished. Excellent service."

"Russ did an exceptional job dealing with waterproofing issues at our home in Troy. He was prompt, responsive and professional. More importantly, he dealt specifically with the actual problem, as opposed to competitors who were determined to offer extraordinarily costly and unnecessary drainage systems, which were absolute overkill to the actual problem. If I have an issue again, I'm calling Russ. He consistently had a thoughtful response to what I was seeing."

"This was a major plumbing overhaul/update of my bath and kitchen plumbing. The pipes coming into the house had to be accessed through holes in the side yard, and the basement wall. Since my bathroom would be torn up, I decided on a partial remodel. Experienced Plumbing provided me with names of a tile installer, plasterer, and a resource for my flooring. The entire EP team, and all of the people they recommended, were wonderful, coordinating their schedules to get this job done. Ron and Angela were so friendly and considerate, monitoring progress every step of the way to ensure my satisfaction. I will certainly call or recommend Experienced Plumbing LLC in the future."

"It went well. I was expecting a dusty mess. Didn't happen. The immediately put down a protective runner from the basement walkout door to the unfinished room. They then put up a temporary tent with visqueen to minimize the dust. Cleaned and sweep up the room before they left. The two man crew was extremely respectful of my property and the job was done well. I observed the process from start to finish."

"My service tech, Jordan Foy, called promptly in the morning and arrived right on schedule. He was friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job installing my sump pump and the underground line. He made sure I approved of what he was going to do each step of the way. He was also very nice to my golden retriever puppy who wanted to be his assistant. I will be using Ayers Basement Systems again for additional work on my basement next spring."

"They were prompt and performed their job very well. Even though the evaluation didn't go as we had wished (the shower stall was installed improperly by a different provider), they were able to get the drain flowing and advised us on the next steps. We will definitely call them if we need plumbing help in the future. <br />"

"Their turn on service from winterization went fine.. Where the problem has been and still exists is with the Pro-Feeder P1X system they installed.  It worked as near as I can tell until the 1st Winterization that they performed.  When the system didn't seem to be working last year they replaced the unit.  The replacement unit didn't seem to be fully working but I wasn't sure so left it alone. <br>  <br>Came time to winterize the system again and I watched again what they did.  Both times there never was a service plug installed into the pro-feeder system.  Upon THIS year talking with American Hydro who makes the pro-feeder I find out that one should always use a winterization plug otherwise the gears in the housing may be damaged and won't work.  This is EXACTLY what my problem is THIS year with 2 replacements of the pro-feeder and it STILL is not working.  In fact the tank of fluid is actually filling up with water blowing by the o-ring and of course not fertilizing the lawn.  <br> <br>Since I could not get the company to contact me regarding this issue, I contacted American Hydro and told them of my predicament .  They are shipping me a newly redesigned system supposedly.  I informed Grapids of this fact but still wanted verification and a call regarding when they could re-install the system when I receive it. <br> <br>After multiple and repeated calls with no one in the office and requests for the Service Manager (Randy?) to call me back about this I STILL have had absolutely no response from Grapids.  I have placed no fewer than 8 phone calls and left a message on the Service managers voice  mail to call me...... STILL with no response. <br> <br>"

"The technicians were friendly and nice.  They had to come back twice and they had no problems coming back the second time.  However, the solution didn't work and we’re still getting water in basement."

"Bryan and his team were able to start the work a few days earlier than expected. Very efficient and the driveway looks great. Would most definitely recommend them to family and friends and I will use them again for any future concrete work."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Saint Joseph, MI

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
