"Replacement was urged by technician after routine inspection of heating system. Water heater wasn't part of the service but, tech checked it anyway. Nice enough of him to do that. After showing me his concern (legitimate) I asked for a quote to replace. Outrageously expensive considering cost of materials. Later learned techs are incentivized to sell service and parts.
