"Steve installed an earthquake gas shutoff valve. He carefully and thoughtfully considered the best way to make it fit in the limited space, and ultimately came up with a super-efficient solution that required a minimum of new piping. He explained and demonstrated how it worked, and how to turn it on and off. As he turned on the pilot light for the water heater after installation, he explained how to do it if I ever needed to do it myself. Quick to respond to my initial inquiry and further questions. Excellent service -- highly recommended!"

"This is the third time I have used Albert Nahman. This time was for a water leak with an unclear origin. They did a great job diagnosing the problem and took the time to explain what they found and offer options on potential fixes. I really appreciate the care their plumber took in tracking down the problem and providing a realistic quote for the cost and time to fix the problem. They also arrive on time and do a great job cleaning up after the work is done. A+++ company. Will definitely use them again the in future."

"We ended up paying above the original quote because the young man changed the configuration of the pipes, supposedly to make it more accessible in the future. I was not too pleased with the price as we do not do well with surprises of this nature. I wanted to get the job done and so far it seems like a good job."

Customers say: Quick response

"Franco did a wonderful job taking care of an issue with a broken corroded pipe. He was courteous, on time, friendly, and clearly knew his stuff. He was also willing to try to fix something that was understandably going to be difficult and might not be fixable and using his skills and knowledge, able to fix it (helping our house have water again). Really appreciate his help and no doubt would call him again if I ever had any plumbing needs."

FAQs for gas piping projects in San Francisco, CA

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
