"I called and owner scheduled an appointment that worked for me. Peyton called before the appointment to confirm and tell me a window of time for him to show up. He showed up right on time and replaced both garage door openers. Took time to explain their operation and help connect my two cars to the openers. Fixed the doors to open more easily and showed me how to best oil the moving parts. Price was exactly as quoted on the phone. I chose Champion because of their over 2,000 excellent reviews. They lived up to their reputation. Would definitely choose them again for any issues with my garage doors."

"My garage door would not close and was stuck open with both cables on either side of the door unspooled from the drum and essentially locking the door at 3ft open. I used Angi to look up nearby contractors and A1 came up. They contacted me very quickly and when I acknowledged I needed service, they were on site within the hour! The end result is that they repaired my issue so that I can use the door again. To get to that point - they walked me through what they planned to do. Midway through the repair, they did ask to meet with me to recommend fully replacing all bars, springs, cables and tracks (for about $1600-$1800), but I declined as I was not ready to make that large a decision and may want to change the garage door in the future. There was a bit of back and forth on whether they would tighten the springs which were insufficiently wound, but they did in the end. I would work with them again. I'd prefer full discussion on what they can do to finish the requested job first."

Small jobs welcome

"John came out, provided a clear quote for a garage door opener, explained the pricing upfront, and got the job done. The work itself was great, but one small thing that stood out was John’s straightforward approach and he didn’t charge an extra fee just to come out and provide a quote, which is something I’ve experienced with other companies. Honest professional, and hassle free service. Highly recommended."

"Technicians examined my garage door and diagnosed the problems with it. They completed repairs the same evening and I had a brand new motor assembly which is quiet and working perfectly since. They do nice work."

"My Garage door broke and would not open or close. I contacted Reliable Garage Door and they are amazing. Jacob quickly resolved the problem and at a very fair price. Anyone can put Reliable in their name, but Reliable Garage Door follows through with their actions. I was so happy with the service I am going to use them to replace my worn-out garage doors."

"The tech came to my house to replace garage door. He was scheduled to be here at 8:30. At 10:30 on that day. I got a call that he would be here in about 2 hours. He got here about 12:30-1:00 . He apologized for being late. Toke old garage door off and toke it. Put the new garage door together and put the new garage up. The only problem that I had was the fact I was called two hours after the tech was scheduled to be here."

"I called PP several weeks in advance of our closing date since I wanted to have the garage door openers installed immediately after closing (that same afternoon). Jeff and I locked in a date and he asked that I confirm a week in advance since sometimes closing dates get moved. I confirmed with Jeff and we agreed on a time. Jeff showed up with a helper pretty much exactly when he said he would. Both guys were very professional yet also personable. When necessary they asked the right questions about placement of the wall mounted openers and even confirmed where they should run the wire to the openers. They installed the exterior keypad as well as programming it so that each door has its own code (and that way we didn't have to have two separate keypads). The car remotes were also programmed to open each door separately. All in all the installation went perfectly and he even charged me slightly less than what he quoted since I only needed one external keypad. The only and quot;criticismand quot;, if you can even call it that, is that Jeff was a little reluctant to sell me the internet gateway that would allow me to use an app with my Liftmaster opener. I think this was a shame since the app is fantastic, my wife uses it all the time to make sure that she actually closed the garage door. I was also able to set it up to text me if a door is open more than 30 minutes. And I was able to remotely open the door for the landscaping guys to come into the garage to work with the irrigation control unit. So I love the app! I think that the reason that Jeff was reluctant is because he has such a strong work ethic, believing in delivering a complete turnkey package to the customer, and the internet gateway is not his strong suit. What I would say to that is: he is so good at the rest of the installation process he shouldn't worry about this part. And anyway, the set up of the internet gateway really should be the responsibility of the homeowner and not the installer since you have to hook it up to your router and go online and set up passwords. So I would hire them again in a heartbeat! And I really like the battery back up on this unit since we have already has to use it twice! This garage door opener is one of the cool things I like about our new house :-)

FAQs for garage door opener installation and replacement projects in Santiago, MN

A chain-drive opener costs less, but it’s louder and needs more upkeep. If your budget allows, a belt-drive model is often the smarter long-term buy, especially for an attached garage with a bedroom above where noise matters. The decision between a chain or belt opener comes down to your budget and needs, and your garage door opener installer can help you choose an option that best suits you.

Choosing the right horsepower for your garage door opener is crucial for safe and efficient performance. Your garage door’s design and material determine the required horsepower. A single-car garage demands a half horsepower rating, while a two-car garage requires a rating between three-fourths and 1.25 horsepower. Selecting the proper power level ensures optimum performance and durability over the life of the opener.

Plan on a quick garage door tune-up once or twice a year. Tighten the chain or belt, lubricate moving parts, test the safety sensors, and swap out weak batteries in the remotes or backup unit. A few dollars in lubricant and 30 minutes of work can fend off costly repairs, keep the door running smoothly, and help the opener hit its full life expectancy.
