"The fan works now, so that's a plus. That said, more than $80 is a lot to pay just to have someone look at something to diagnose it. We didn't realize that the fan control (fixed to the wall) had a battery (the fan was already there when we bought the house). The technicians recommended that we change the battery, and randomly pushed some buttons on the control, and the fan worked again. It took less than five minutes. The company was clear about what the diagnostic price would be. With that said, I can't help but wonder if another company would have said "hey, we were here for 5 minutes and would rather have you as a customer again than gouge you for this visit". Maybe not. But we're going to install A/C in the next few years, and I don't think we'll consider working with them again."
