Customers say: Quick response

"Sean Kroll was enormously helpful. I highly recommend him. He gave me a quote over the phone, picked up the hot water tank and installed it efficiently. I had made an error in telling Sean that we needed an electric hot water tank when in fact we needed a gas tank. It was my error and all he said was it's alright and made the exchange. My happiest moment was when I came downstairs and the basement was cleaner than when he began."

"A couple of weeks ago, we noticed a faint smell of gas from our fireplace. We checked Google for contractors, as one does, and found Lil Joeâ s. Joe was available to come out that day to address the smell and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure the leak was fixed. He added a shutoff valve to the fireplace gas line in the basement, and replaced the inner workings of the fireplace itself. We then proceeded to order gas logs from Joe and he installed those just last week. His prices are fair, he is extremely clean, and his work is fantastic. I would suggest Lil Joeâ s to anyone that is in need of a gas fireplace install or maintenance!"

"They wanted $165 before even coming out. They bought the wrong style faucet so I was w/o running water overnight. I told the tech to disassemble the drain and take out the knife that fell in earlier. He couldn't find it. This year I noticed that the drain pipes were crooked so I had someone else come in to repair work that PPH did. They found the knife and did the drain pipes that PPH should have done correctly."

"I found out from my flooring installers that they would not disconnect my gas stove to move it to install the floor.  They told me I would need to call a plumber.   I called Great Lakes at the last minute as I did not have any notice and they were able to fit me into the schedule after I told them my tight timeline.  The guy who came out was friendly and efficient.   I would use this company again for any plumbing needs I have!  I am greatly appreciative of the fact that they were able to fit me into the schedule. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"This was no easy job as we faced numerous challenges replacing old rusted galvanized pipe with modern PEX and PVC and rerouting some heating. Petro plumbing has a lot of experience. I always know I am in good hands with Petro Plumbing."

FAQs for gas piping projects in Portage, MI

Plumbers with proper licensing and credentials install and relocate gas lines. When hiring a professional, verify they have experience with gas systems and all required certifications. Some homeowners choose to work with plumbers specializing in natural gas installations, as they have extensive experience with similar projects and understand the safety requirements.

The timeline for gas line relocation varies based on project complexity, permit processing, and inspection scheduling. The physical labor takes a few hours to one day, depending on the line length. However, the actual installation work represents only part of the overall project timeline. Your contractor should provide a specific timeframe based on your circumstances and local permitting requirements.

Your gas supply must be shut off during the relocation process. This safety measure prevents gas leaks while connections are being modified. Plan for this temporary service interruption by making alternative arrangements for cooking, heating, or other gas-dependent systems in your home. The shut-off generally only lasts for a portion of the work, often a few hours.

Relocating gas lines to connect new appliances is a common reason for this type of project. Whether you're installing a gas stove, fireplace, dryer, or outdoor grill, a professional can determine the best route for extending your existing gas system. The cost will depend on the distance between your current gas line and the new appliance location.

Gas line work is not suitable for DIY projects. Natural gas is highly flammable and potentially lethal if not handled correctly. Gas leaks can be difficult to detect without specialized equipment. Professional plumbers have the proper training, tools, and experience to safely relocate gas lines while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards.
