"Terrance was outstanding. He replaced one unit that works great and fixed an issue on another unit that he did not install. Will definitely use him again in the future and highly recommend him."

"They came in to inspect our firplace and chimney the summer of 2012, and they were honest with us.  The person who came out let us know that our system was in great condition, and did not need any service. He could of easliy over sold us on unnecessary products and services. We appreciate his honesty.

"Very slow response time. Seem to subcontract with lowest bidder, you then are lowest priority for the subcontractor. Took five visits (different employee each time), to eventually properly diagnos and repair a/c problem. AHS was horrible in dealing with complaints. You could only reach their sales staff/telemarketeers who then redirected to a supposed customer service supervisor who never answered her phone and never responded to any of the numerous voice messages pleading for a call back. Would not recommend this company to anyone until they fix their customer service problems. Frustrating ordeal and not worth the hassle. You pay $45 a month, plus $100 co-pay for any service. I broke about close to even for year on money, but received very slow response and marginally experienced service for my. Repairs and zero customer service from the actual company. At one point the contractor failed to show as sceduled or answer phone. I personally drove to the listed address on invoice and discovered it was an address for a different business who had been there for years. They said others had also been there searching for this company."

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Shelby, AL

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
