"Needed some gravel laid down on my 160 ft long driveway. Received a very reasonable estimate within a matter of days. Didn't even shop around I was so satisfied with the quote. Work was performed quickly within a week or so...about a 3 hour job to scrape, grade, and install fresh gravel. Brought a 4-man crew and all necessary equipment. Quick and easy invoicing with card credit card and bank transfer options. I would definitely recommend this contractor! Thank you Bear Creek!"

"We checked around a few granite businesses that were vague on pricing or did not respond to questions. We went into Pro Granite and immediately appreciated the customer service and well organized showroom. Anna was very helpful showing us around and upfront about pricing, she even gave us a printout of our project with the costs of different pieces of granite. Very reasonably priced! Less than the big box stores. We decided on one kind and they pulled out those slabs for us to select the exact one we wanted. Excellent communication and punctuality from the templating appointment to the installation, always arriving about 5 minutes early in fact. Vinnie and Ivan did a meticulous job, their dedication to their craft shows through in the finished project. Recommend 100%."

"I'm a neighbor on our little dead end street. Unlike Bob, most service people don't seem to think about how their parked equipment will affect access for the rest of the street. Bob backed up his dump truck and trailer and parked them so that everyone could get in and out easily. I even saw a FedEx truck come in and deliver a package with no problems. That kind of attention to details gets my respect and appreciation."

"Sia and his crew did a stellar job on my new concrete driveway conversion from gravel and block planter wall in front of the house! After a prompt free estimate and due diligence, I found Step Up's estimate to be the most competitive and fairly priced. They were always very communicative and promptly showed up when they said they would everyday. Throughout the whole process, they kept the work area clean during the day and at the end of the day before leaving. In the end, both the concrete driveway and block wall turned out great, couldn't be happier with their work!"

"It went ok. I'm not happy there are the turf nails showing all over the place. I think it needed more infill sand spread out. They had extra bags of the sand after the project but took them all."

"We needed a company who had the knowledge and skill to handle this project. We also needed professional advice on product and types of fabrication options. We interviewed several potential providers. There was no comparison between Orca and everyone else. Orca did everything agreed upon and all was done perfectly. The team was professional, courteous, and timely. The fabrication work was just beautifully done with exceptional skill. From the owner, to the office staff, to the installation crew, every single Orca person was great to work with - knowledgeable, helpful, and skilled. Orca is our only choice for this type of work in the future."

"Cameron, the owner, is absolutely great. He came out and gave great ideas. When three of the plants died, he came out to look into it and make adjustments. His prices are very reasonable, and I would highly recommend Cameron and his company, Father Nature."

"I have hired them to do bi-weekly lawn maintenance for me and also a clean up job on part of my property. Pedro is an excellent communicator, prices are reasonable, and they always show up when they say they will. Having gone through a few landscapers before hiring PG, I can tell you just how hard it is to find a quality landscaper. I am very satisfied and will continue to use them for bi-weekly lawn maintenance and all my future yard projects!"

"We had Chhay from Stone Restoration Services some holes and marks in our Terrazzo floor after moving the Kitchen island. He was amazing. You would never be able to tell there was ever a hole. He even managed to restore the floors to white from the discolored cream they had become since 1960. He was also 50% cheaper than Marblelife. I'm a huge fan of this guy. He went above and beyond repairing a bunch of holes and marks that weren't in the original scope. He also took great care of our cabinets and walls. His cell phone is 206-235-5059 and his email is stonerestorationservices@gmail.com. I'll add some before and after photos when we finish our remodel."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Steilacoom, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
