"Rick Davis was very personable. He was prompt returning any phone calls or addressing any color or paint concerns. He provided our bid for the exterior painting in July before our siding was completed so we planned on scheduling after the siding was completed which was the end of August. We requested a bid to stain our newly installed back fence the first day his crew came out for the exterior preparation and accepted his proposal. His crew did a great job preparing the exterior for paint and protecting our new landscaping and concrete. They completed the entire house in one day and returned the next for minor touch up and to stain the fence. Rick was very thorough in communication throughout the whole process and our house looks awesome.

"Aaron showed up 10 min early. He was very professional and courteous. His workmanship was fantastic. He installed the sheet rock, taped and textured the wall in good time. He blended the texture perfectly and seams are utterly non existent. I had Aaron look at another project that I have going on and asked him if he was interested. He said he could perform the work but it was not his specialty and recommended I use someone else. Imagine that, Honesty! I would hire him again anytime. I would recommend Aaron to anyone needing work done."

"Due to some renovation and repair work, there were large areas of ceiling over the kitchen and master bath where the insulation had been removed. The rest of the house had old cellulose insulation that had been settling for several years. All in all, in the winter cold the lack of insulation was noticeable. RJL Installation ran a special with a discount on Angie's List to pay $149 for $500 worth of installed attic insulation. I bought the special and was contacted by RJL. I was really only wanting the areas where insulation was missing to be covered, but it turned out that the cost was not much greater to get the entire attic covered. I was somewhat taken aback by the total price ($1,149.50 on top of the original $149.00), but decided that the insulation was needed in any case, so that was why I gave the C rating for price. I felt a bit trapped because I had already paid for the discounting and didn't know how to get that money back if I had decided that I didn't want to pay as much as the final quoted price.
The installer thought that there should be some sort of access port or window or something to get into the attic from outside the house, and seemed surprised that the house was built with only a hallway ceiling opening for attic access. Once we established that that was, indeed, the only way to get up there, the installer proceeded to bring a large hose through the front door and the hallway and into the attic. When he was in place, his assistant started feeding compressed bales of fiberglass-like insulation through a machine that broke up the compressed insulation and "fluffed" it and blew it through the large hose to be blown in place. When the installation work was completed, I was invited to climb the ladder to take a look at the coverage, using a large flashlight as my light source. From the ladder, the insulation looked to be level across as much of the attic as I could see (almost all the attic, in truth), and appeared to be deep enough to be effective. When they were finished with the installation, the installer and his assistant borrowed a broom and managed to sweep up almost all of any insulation that had found its way to where it was not wanted.
All in all, an acceptable job. I thought about giving an overall rating of B, but except for the price, the other categories rated an A.

"There was a six month gap between the time I purchased the coupon and had the work done - my choice. Then, a month before the projected date, I again postponed it for a month. On the day the job was to start, no one was here at 9A, so I called. I had not listened to my voice mails nor had I read my E-mails from the preceeding day to confirm. Totally my fault, but Dominique said, "No problem. We understand. How about tomorrow and the next day?" Right! The workers were scheduled to arrive between 8 & 8:30; they called and arrived promptly at 8:15. Matt and Jason were there the first day and Tim joined them the second. They were polite and charming young men who proved to be skilled and careful workmen. When they were done each day, they cleaned the area and removed their equipment. The finished job was beyoond my expectations for a 50 year old acoustic ceiling. It looked as if a new ceiling had been installed. I would most strongly recommend that anyone who needs ceiling refinishing or painting done include A Better Choice Painting in the list to be interviewed. If you don't, you may miss out on the best choice and the best job.

"Initially I set up an appointment to get an estimate for our kitchen. I was informed that there was a fee of 125.00 to come to my home to do that. At first I was a little skeptical, but then it was explained to me that the 125.00 would be included with the cost of the job. I had them come out and the gentlemen that came out were very nice. They did all the measuring and listened to exactly want we wanted to have done. They also made some recommendations on where we should go to look for our flooring and such. They were very courteous and knowledgeable. My husband and I went to the stores that they suggested and I found some beautiful tile. We checked out a few samples to see how they would look with the lighting in our house. We placed the tiles on our floor in different parts of the kitchen to see which one I liked the best. My husband actually left the final decision up to me. I made my decision and called up Spectrum One. We had already purchased our appliances and they had gave us a list of other material that was needed. Once everything was set up, the guys came out to do the job. They were on time and cleaned up after themselves. They were very hard workers and made sure that the job was dust free. Not only did they do an awesome job on my floor, but they also did a beautiful back splash. I was very pleased with the installation of my cabinets. I would definitely refer them to all my family and friends.

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

"I had made advance arrangements for the handyman and had prioritized a list of projects. The office handled this all very well, but the actual handyman did not seem aware of the arrangements. Instead of arriving at 8-9am, he arrived at 11:30 only to perform an estimate of time/projects that could be completed. Per his advice, we decided not to replace the shower faucet set as it would take too much time, so he simply took out the flow restricter on the existing shower head. That left the fan, the ice maker water line, the thermostat and the porch light on the list of possible projects. He left for another job and came back at 5:30pm and only barely got started. He did come back the next day about noon, but I did have to rearrange my schedule to be there since I had planned on everything getting done in one 6 hr. day (per offer). He did not seem prepared--he did not have a ladder (I lent him mine) and he had to leave to go back to the office to get a saw. By 6pm the second day the bathroom fan was installed and he did finish the ice maker line (simply had to turn it on under the house and check for leaks). The fan was a difficult job and did require him to go into the attic to complete the installation. He said he could come back again the next week for another $220 to finish the thermostat and porch light replacements. We declined to have any further work done as this took way too long and I lacked confidence in the handyman. The next week I did call the owner who was very nice about all this confusion who did try to remedy the problem, but we were not able to connect with another time for them to come back and try again to finish the projects in a timely and cost-efficient manner using another handyman. Ultimately, I installed the thermostat myself, and we never did get the porch light replaced. I would not hire this company again, as I was very disappointed in the scheduling and the outcome.
