"We were very happy with the repair of the hinge on our storm door. He repaired it by replacing a few washers that has gone missing. Other repair people recommend we replace the whole door."

"It went very well. They were efficient and came prepared to complete the work we needed done. We love our new fan...its so quiet and does a great job removing the moisture out of the air. The toilet they fixed was an after thought but they ran and got the needed parts and fixed it right away. Im thankful your site lead us to H&S! I will be calling them again when we need help with a repair."

"Our older wood patio door would barely slide. It seemed like we were looking at thousands of dollars for a replacement door, but after looking at it, Dan was pretty certain he could repair it. For a fraction of the cost he got it working in one follow-up trip and he also replaced the weather stripping and tightened the loose handle. It was winter and he scheduled us for the first warm day. We were very relieved and grateful."

"Ceiling and wall looks perfect. No visible patching or seems! House exterior and carpentry repairs look excellent!! Paul is a true craftsman. Not your average handyman. His team works well and is patient with homeowners' requests, change of plans, and attention to detail is his strength. On top of Paul's impressive skill it is refreshing to have the added bonus of a truly genuine, kind personality. A breath of fresh air when we've renovated numerous homes."

"He's very responsive. He is thorough. He gives me good ideas and tells me what I should spend money on and shouldn't spend money on. And the reason the doors were so expensive was because they were special sized and he had to put some stuff down and stuff. So it was a bigger project than anticipated. I just feel like I really trust him now. He's reliable. I think he's great. I want to tell everyone about him, because I think he's great and I want to keep him to myself. But it's like, little jobs or big jobs, as long as you're patient timing-wise, because he may have some bigger projects, he's willing to fit you in."

"Andy is a very professional contractor and is highly skilled.  He is very customer focused; he is a very good listener and is not afraid to make recommendations that will meet the homeowner's objectives at less cost, or to improve design esthetics of the home.  He will re-do work if the homeowner is not completely satisfied (although this is so very rare) and works very hard to meet client deadlines.  He is extremely knowledgeable about the quality, price and integrity of numerous home building/repair products and takes time to go with the customer to make product selections and explain the pros and cons of making a certain product selection. He manages to maintain an very clean work site on even the most dusty and  messy projects.  He is very polite, very friendly and just an all around nice guy.  He and his crew even took the time to take my dogs out during the kitchen remodeling project when I had to work some very long hours.   Anytime he has additional crew with him, he always takes the time to introduce the guys and they are always just as professional and friendly as Andy.  His finished product has always exceeded our expectations.  I just wish he would return my calls or text messages a little bit sooner....I have two additional projects that I need to have him work on that got bumped up on our "priority list" and I haven't been able to get in touch with him!!  Overall, he is an A+!  <br />"

"The project went well. Chris and his Son were polite and did a good job. Under the cold conditions they were able to provide a high quality product. The work they did in my garage looks amazing. They were also able to touch up my existing drywall and re-texture and paint to make the whole garage seamless. There were a few minor cracks to the seams that showed up. Chris is going to wait until the weather warms up to come back and take care of them. I'm confident this will be resolved and he was more than willing to address and take care of it. I'll post an update once the work is done. I also had them paint some exposed wood around my garage door. They did a very nice job and I'm thrilled with the work."

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Sussex, WI

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
