"The tech began a sales speech before he even checked our tankless water heater. We had to sign papers for him to get started, then he told us the cost and warranty for a new tankless was over 5 grand. He had not even looked at the unit and when he did,he did not know what he was doing. I called another company and that tech said ARS had hooked it up backwards. I had to replace the unit and it only cost me about $2,800 and I feel ARS was part of the problem. Please stop calling me."

FAQs for water heater repair or service projects in Florence, SC

Warning signs include fluctuating water temperatures, a pilot light that repeatedly goes out, unusual noises from the tank, or complete heating failure. You might also detect a rotten egg smell, indicating a potential gas leak, or notice water that never reaches the proper temperature. If your water heater is over eight years old and displaying these symptoms, the gas valve is a likely culprit. Professional inspection is recommended, especially if gas odors are present.

Water heater gas valves are not universally interchangeable. Each valve must match your specific water heater's make, model, and specifications. Important compatibility factors include gas type (natural gas vs. propane), BTU rating, connection types, and physical dimensions. Using an incorrect valve can result in poor performance, premature failure, or dangerous gas leaks. Always consult your water heater's documentation or a professional plumber to identify the appropriate replacement valve for your unit.
