"I called U.S. Window Repair around 9 a.m. A technician, Sam, came around 11:30 and fixed the windows in less than 10 minutes. No sales pitch, just a quick efficient repair. It can be difficult to find a vendor to do smaller repair jobs. I will definitely contact them for any future window repair or replacement needs."

"Professional work crew did an excellent job. Windows look beautiful and we are extremely pleased. We did lots of research on types of windows b/c we needed wooden windows inside. We decided on the Anderson b/c we put them in one room last year and were extremely happy with how they turned out. The company has been responsive and the salesman even thought to have wooden inlay on the screen for my kitchen casement window so that the interior would be perfect. Little details go a long way. The cost of brass hardware did increase the overall cost but it matches our period home. Overall, we were very pleased with the entire process."

"We have used Thompson Creek several times over the years. We have had new windows, new siding glass doors and new front door with a storm door @nd a new side door. They are professional and always clean up. The office kept us up to date as to when they would be doing the install. Very happy"

"The reason I downgraded them was there communication was very poor from the headquarters to the field staff. to me and then between the supplier and the headquarters. For example I ordered screens. The screens where never installed with the original window. I had called several time to follow up and it turns out there were a few screens that had come in but were damaged and no body communicated that to me so, I was waiting for 3 months for the actual think that I had already paid for. And then, there was a disagreement between the supplier and the provider which is when they-. The windows where great. The windows whee do. It just the service was poor. The pricing was great. They had a range of options and it was all on a cart so you could see how they customise your selections. That was nice. (Quality:) So far so good. I think I would probably rate them a B, mostly because the installation was not super tidy and again, the quality of the product still really needs to get tasted but the sound is greatly reduced and the lost of heat has been greatly reduced. But the actual way they installed it and the look of it is a little bit shoddy. (Professionalism): Its different because I dealt with a lot of people I guess. I deal with the person who was the sales person, and then I also dealt with the company. The sales person actually had a much higher lever of professionalism than the people that I dealt with in the headquarters, Thats why i'm a lot bit in between. They do send some follow up things and have tried to make some sort of amends. (Used them again) Hopefully I will not need them in the future though I don't anticipate following up with another provider for the same service. i only have 6 windows in the house this way. Yes I would compared rates and services with other companies, I would not automatically go back to them."

"The folks at Tri-State Retractable screens were a pleasure to work with. They were communicative, responsive and very prompt. When our first installation date was rained out, they called with other options the next day. Moreover, when they had a cancellation, they called to see if we could be available early. The screen fits perfectly and works great. I've already recommended them to neighbors and am considering having them return to do another job for me. <br />"

"Sales guy told me he thought they could do without needing to put a ladder to neighbor’s roof (I have a townhouse). So I didn’t talk to neighbors. Normal practice is for them to call the evening prior to performing work. If I knew when they were coming I might have talked to them anyway, but they called me evening prior. Turns out they even had to put a ladder on each of their decks to do the job. One neighbor wasn’t home, I hope she doesn’t mind. For the skylight job, scheduler promised that I didn’t need to be present, I made them wait because I wanted to be here to make sure everything went smoothly, and good thing I did. The installers came through the house a few times (easier access), but after removing the old skylights they realized they needed to cut back drywall to fit new ones in. I had to put drop cloths down to catch debris and clean up. If I hadn’t been home what would they have done? Leave a whole in my roof or put the old skylights back?!? After they left, I noticed the skylights were not installed centered in the opening, (probably so they could avoid trimming the drywall on both sides) now the interior trim looks off unbalanced from inside."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Waldorf, MD

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
