"We needed a centrally monitored burglar and fire alarm system to satisfy our insurance company. After getting a couple of bids, I called Protect Your Home, the biggest ADT provider. The price was better than the other bids out there. Everything looks great after setup."

"From beginning to end since I requested a quote I was treated well. Even during installation I was told they were stopping for lunch. Usually contractors just leave. It was nice to know they were leaving. Price was great and suggestions during initial meeting were fantastic. I will definitely recommend and use again."

"Jeremy was punctual and professional. The appointment was easy to make with fast scheduling. I received an in-depth presentation and walk through of my home. He was very responsive to my questions and family's needs. There was no pressure to buy or add equipment I did not want or need. My new system was installed two days later. Larry the technical adviser was amazing. He was knowledgeable and friendly. He installed my system with no problems. He took the time to give us a lesson on how to use the app and new system. A few days later I had a question and he responded right away. I loved the system so much, that I referred my mother. Her system was installed a week later. I feel so protected knowing my family is safe using 1st Security Alarm company. I have the confidence of knowing that I can upgrade my system at any time. I can not thank Jeremy and Larry enough."

"The control panel needed a new battery pack installer did not have. 3eMissed one indoor window needing a sensor, and garage door open sensor is needed. Appt. times are not accurate so allow for extra time ! Low battery alarm beeped once every minute overnight so I lowered volume. Garage door sensor is on backorder. This install may get completed when? Unknown.
I could also use 2 more sensors.
Our insurance company said that since we have no smoke or fire alarm protection they cannot give us a bigger discount on our homeowners policy.

"It went better than I expected. I contacted Wilcox at 745am in the morning with what I considered an emergency because my attic fan was malfunctioning and making an awful noise. Lauren, who took my call, stated she would contact the technicians to see who she could get to assist me. Technician David, was able to come around 230pm. David was reluctant to go up in an attic with the temps being over 80 degrees, however, when he arrived, I found him to be the most pleasant person. He went up in the attic to see what he needed to do. He went out to his truck to get some equipment and returned with a cover to put down on my hardwood floor to protect it from scratches from the attic stairs and to catch any debris from the insulation that on the attic floor. He explained to me exactly what he did to disconnect the fan and explained that another fan could be connected on the same thermostat. I asked him questions about installing a ceiling light or sconce lights in my living room and he graciously explained in full detail as to how he would do it. He was happy to answer any questions that I had. I would like to thank Lauren and David for helping me. I was a never wreck but they definitely calmed my nerves, I couldn't go another day with that fan making that awful noise."

FAQs for fire service projects in Washington, DC

A complete fire hydrant installation requires two to five working days from start to finish. The timeline begins with securing necessary permits, which may take one to three weeks before work can commence. Once approved, the process includes marking utilities, excavation work, hydrant placement, connection to the water supply, and final testing. Weather conditions and unexpected underground obstacles can extend this timeframe, so planning ahead is essential.

Property owners who install fire hydrants often see reductions in their insurance costs, particularly for commercial properties. Insurance providers frequently offer discounts when properties have accessible fire protection systems that can minimize potential damage. The exact premium reduction varies by insurance company and property type. Contact your insurance provider before installation to understand potential savings and any specific installation requirements they may have.

Proper hydrant maintenance includes regular system flushing, valve operation checks, and exterior condition assessment. Professional inspections, costing $125 to $230 annually, help identify potential issues before they become serious problems. Regular maintenance prevents internal corrosion, ensures proper operation during emergencies, and extends the hydrant's useful life. Many jurisdictions require documented maintenance records for private hydrants.

Installing a private fire hydrant involves navigating various regulatory requirements, including obtaining permits ($50 to $500), meeting minimum flow rate standards, and adhering to placement guidelines. Most municipalities require licensed professionals to perform the installation and mandate regular inspections. Commercial properties face stricter requirements than residential installations. Before beginning the project, consult with your local fire department or building authority to understand all applicable regulations.
