"Meva glass was incredible. Damien and his crew were very efficient and customer service oriented. They have the expertise to work in an older building such as mine with no difficulty. I would highly recommend their services to anyone who need mirror repair or removal. I intend to hire them again for the remaining glass projects in my apartment. A class act and very easy to work with."

"As someone who works in management, I appreciate things that are organized, reliable, and well-executed. Our new glass railings checked all the boxes. The glass railings from Great Glass Chicago gave our home a much more modern and professional feel. The clear glass opens up the space and makes everything look brighter and more refined. The tempered glass feels extremely solid, and the installation was done with precision. No wobbling, no uneven lines?everything feels sturdy and properly finished. From consultation to installation, the entire experience was smooth and efficient. The team was punctual, organized, and communicated clearly throughout."

"I believe everything went great. Initial communications were a bit sketchy but all went well in the end. When is the last time you were quoted a price and after the job was done, the technician said the job went easier than expected and lowered the price...by a third? Plus, Ronnie (I guess he's one of the owners) happened to notice a problem when they were already packed up and ready to leave (it was a window that an "apprentice" (at least someone that had only been with the company a couple of months) had worked on, promptly unpacked everything and redid the window. If you don't absolutely need new windows, I would recommend letting this company at least give an estimate. All my windows are working great and the cost for doing all the windows in the condo was about $3,000 less than the cost of replacing only five windows, my original plan. Recommend them highly!"

"Very professional and could not have been nicer. Came to my home as scheduled, picked up the broken vanity mirror, returned just four days later as promised and installed the perfect replacement."

"Everything went well, and I had a good experience.  The scheduling was easy, and they sent someone out the next day which I appreciated since the weather had gotten bad.  Furthermore, the technician arrived on time and did a good job with the repairs."

FAQs for mirrors installation and replacement projects in Waukegan, IL

If your mirror needs recoating, mirror resilvering costs between $110 and $350. Otherwise, you can replace just the glass if your mirror has a frame. You can get a mirror cut at a home improvement store or cut it yourself with a glass cutting tool. If the damage is extensive, there’s a chance you’ll have to replace both the frame and the glass.

Mirrors come in nearly any size, with your local home improvement store usually having 48-inch by 72-inch mirrors for a home gym or dance studio. You can also buy custom-designed mirrors in whatever size fits your needs. Oversized mirrors often start at $1,000 or more, depending on the size and design.

Mirrors are expensive because manufacturing them requires specialized machinery, such as a furnace that reaches ultra-high temperatures to produce molten glass, then a way to cool and form the glass. You cut mirrors with a diamond saw and coat them with metal to create a reflective surface. A silver-backed mirror also requires a chemical process, though most mirrors have an aluminum backing now. A framed mirror can also add to the price.

To look for a quality mirror, consider its purity, flatness, thickness, and reflective coating on the glass. The glass purity can ensure a distortion-free reflection, and thicker glass can decrease the chances of distortion as well. The reflective coating makes a difference, and high-quality mirrors will have several thicker coats of reflective material, like tin-mercury, aluminum, or silver.
