"Overall experience was positive. The diagnosis was good and only required a $15 part that was able to install myself. My frig is working great. While my total cost for the repair was $80 which included the $35 diagnostic fee, the lowest other price quote was over $400. I am very pleased with this new type of appliance repair. I will be recommending this my family and friends."

"I had a question about microwave repair. He answered all my questions and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Unfortunately new parts are no longer available for model in question. He gave me part # if I wanted to call around for a used part somewhere. Got lots of good info."

"This is the second time I have used Dublin Appliance.  As before, my technician was extremely polite, personable and very knowledgeable.  It was obvious he knew exactly what to look for and narrowed the problem done to the broken part.  He had to order the part and brought it promptly as soon as it came in.  On both the initial call and the follow-up to put in the new part he was very punctual, having the office call ahead to say he was on his way. <br /> I absolutely recommend these folks to anyone who needs to have an appliance taken care of. <br />"

"customer beware- Sears Heating & Cooling. We had our air conditioner go out on a Friday and called Sears Heating and Cooling come out to to fix it. We were told their normal service call would be $79, or they could come the same day for $129- we were fine paying extra for same day service. The service technician came out and did a great job- found the problem quickly and did the repair within an hour. here is where the problem is- where I think other costumers might want to be ware of the billing/ business model Sears Heating & Cooling is using: When I asked for the cost of the part (a capacitor I have seen online for $25) And the labor to put it in, I was told “they don’t work that way” And was presented with a choice of 5 service plans to cover the repair that was done. Ranging from the platinum option of over $900 down to one called “the bandaid” that was just oner $300. In other words, they would not give me a quote for the cost of the part and for the cost of the labor to complete the repair - and the cost of the service call was NOT going to be applied against the cost of labor for the repair. instead, my only option was to choose form one of the service plan levels. But the time I was presented with my “service plan options” the part had already been replaced and the AC was working- Bottom line was, a replaced capacitor (about a $25 part- was going to cost me $431 dollars for the $129 service call plus the $302 “quick fix safety testing 90 day warranty” repair - this was listed as the “bandaid” option on their iPad when presented with my service options. If this is legal, so be it- but I felt compelled to warn other consumers that this sort of thing is how they do business. It felts like a scam, it was far too much for the service performed. Furthermore when I called, they said that this is the way their customers preferrer doing business- even though I was a customer calling in to let them know how much this seemed like a HORRIBLE way to do business. They said they are not a parts and labor company, that they are a service company. I was then transferred to someone’s voicemail and left a message explain my concerns. When I expressed my concern with the repairman, he told me that he hears this a lot, and if I had issues with it, that I should call in to the office on Monday. I take responsibility for calling them- and like I said the repair man did an excellent job- but it does not feel like fair business practices that their billing procedures were not fully disclosed. Up til now, every service call I had made had given me a cost for the visit, and then the service person would tel me the cost for the parts and the labor to do the repairs, and the cost of the service call would either be waived if we did the service, or applied against the cost of the series provided. It seems like if a company wants to vary from this standard billing model so wildly, it should be fully disclosed on the phone prior to the appointment being made or the repair being performed. I think I have the right to know the cost of the labor for the repair and the cost of the part being used for the repair. In the future I will for certain make sure that I will ask ANY service company IF: • the service call cost will be applied against the cost of any service(s) performed • i will receive an itemized bill breaking down the cost of any parts used and any services/labor performed • if my only options for payments will be picking from various service plans vs just paying for the repairs done. Beware of how this company bills/ what you are agreeing to before calling this company. I will be posting this information with Angie’s List, the Better Business Bureau, and the Attorney General’s office in hopes that others may avoid being forced into picking from service plan options when all that is wanted is a repair."

""Joe" was able to come out same-day to give me a quote. As we walked from the front door to my machine I explained the error message. When he got to the machine, he put one hand inside the front loading tub, lifted it slightly and said, "Well, I know exactly what it is and the repair is relatively cost prohibitive. It will be $530. Your (something--or-other) is shot. Happens a lot on these machines. A lot of people just get new ones..." I shared that I thought that a new one might be closer to $900 or so, so even though the price was high, I was still probably saving some money. "Oh. Well, there's also the chance that we could open it up and find out that your (something-else-or-other) is bad, so we'd have to charge you for that. But... if you'd rather not do that we can just charge you $90 for opening it up and cancel at that point." I agreed, not happy with how much I was going to need to pay, but pleased that it would be taken care of relatively quickly (two days later). Two days later the appointment was cancelled do to a health issue for Joe. He was very apologetic (he was talking to me while the "squad was on their way"!) He gave me a number for a different shop and I wished him the best of luck. That's NOT the reason for my scores. The service that I DID end up using did a thorough check of my machine and realized that it was something COMPLETELY different that had been suggested, and that what I was told needed to be replaced was actually in very good condition. The real culprit was the motor that powers whatever removes the water from the machine, which ended up being a $280 charge (half as much). I am not claiming that I was lied to in any way. Joe used the information that was given him and a quick check of my machine to make a decision. Had he actually taken the time that my other service did, he would have been able to better/more accurately found the problem. I don't know if he would have completed the repair he THOUGHT was the issue and then found out he was incorrect, but either way, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I will say that the service technician that I did use said very nice things about Joe, and he (Joe) was very polite to me in all conversations. I just wish he had been a little more thorough."

"Excellent! I first had Sears out here (my appliance is a Kenmore) and they said there was a big problem, and tried to get me to buy a very expensive appliance plan. I had a feeling that was ridiculous; found Economic Appliance through Angie's List, and they determined that it was a minor issue, and fixed it at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. Fair, honest, and efficient."

"The service was excellent. My appointment was set up for the day after I called and that evening the repair man(owners son) called and said he was down the street and asked if I would like him to stop by. This was about 7:30 in the evening. He repaired the broken belt on my dryer in about 30 minutes and was very pleasant. Showed me how to repair the problem and said I was going to hate myself when I saw how easy it was. He was right but very cool about it. Very positive experience. Had no problem writing the check for this one."

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in West Jefferson, OH

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
